I'm a musician and I'm always traveling up and down the east coast- NY, Philly, Baltimore, D.C., Richmond...
I've recently become obsessed with the kind of hole-in-the-wall seafood places that sell fried lake trout, whiting, oysters, soft-shell crab. Just wondering if anybody knows any must-try places like this in any of these cities. Most of these places don't have a website or web presence and are hard to find out about except from locals. Cheap is always good.
If they have good sides, that's a plus too.
Oyster Creek in Port Republic, NJ. a little out of the way a normal musician would travel but so worth it. sit on the dock, eat some of the best oysters you'll ever have. amazing crab, amazing clams. all around amazing spot. you have to travel down a one way road to get to it. really cool. right on the marsh.

Thanks! I'll add it to my list. It looks a little bit out of the way of my normal path but I get to AC every once in a while so maybe sometime on my way there.
Horace's and Dickies in DC is one of the best fish shop you can go to, they almost always sell out of almost everything at the end of lunch time so be sure to get there early
Baltimore native here. Just a heads up that buying "lake trout" from the majority of places here isn't really lake trout

Yeah, they talk about that on The Wire I think. As long as it tastes good I don't care.
