Never successfully cooked a steak, how do I do it, /ck/?
I heard I have to make garlic butter or something.
You apply heat
Whatever your cooking on, get it hot. Like really hot. If your outside looks grey your not cooking it hot enough. Rub the steak with salt and pepper on both sides. Some people like to bring the steak up to room temp before cooking it, I don't think it matters to much. Cook the steak for 3.5 min, then flip and cook for 3 min. This will get it around medium rare. Remove and cover with tinfoil for 10 min. If you cook in a cast iron, deglaze the pan and pour it over the steak before serving.

you rub it, burn it, then warm it until you get your favorite pink
Bring the steak to room temperature before you cook it if it's more than half an inch thick.
> Believing 'Merican kids on 4chan can still afford steak with all that college & national debt.

I prefer pork, and in my experience it's super easy to make a well done piece of meat that's also juicy. But hey, beef meat might work differently.
cooking steak sucks hard. best to leave it out in room temp for an hour. then cook it on heat level 8/10 on a hot pan. 2 minutes the first side, 1 minute the other side. let warm for 3 minutes before cutting into it.
