Cast iron pans, woks and the like serve 3 major roles-

1) getting this really, really fucking hot
2) weeding out the weak
3) doubling as a murder weapon when the time is right

Cast iron wok is for high speed high heat cooking. If you're an Anglo, best to stick to low energy stuff and broil your cow knees for 6 hours.
