Yo I'm hijacking this thread. What's the best rice to use for a Korean rice bowl?
>>
>>9078668
Those are tablitas.
>>
>>9078700
You're not hijacking shit. Also, Japanese white rice is the best.
>>
>>9078728
Thanks bro!
>>
>>9078668
For me, its daeji bulgogi. The best bulgogi.
>>
>>9078668
Authentic kalbi should be a whole butterflied shortrib not that americanized crosscut bullshit. That's bulgogi with a bone in it, you ignorant amerilard.
>>
>>9078883
>t. lvl 99+ retard
>>
>>9078728
its called medium grain or short grain rice you fucking idiot. There is calrose, sweet rice, arborio and many other types of rice available. If you go to a korean market trying to buy rice you will be overwhelmed because there will be like 25 different brands and types of rice ranging anywhere from 10$/20lb bag to $75 and up.
>>
>>9078668
But that's not nangmyeon
>>

Did someone say Calbee?
>>
Do you guys ever try making your own noodle sauces like jjajangmyeon or like fire noodle-esque sauces? It seems like when I follow the recipe to a tee something always tastes off. I'm good at making sauces for proteins but thicker noodle sauces I struggle with. Any of you co/ck/s have go to recipes for that?
>>
>not japchae
>>
>>9079772
Yeah definitely. Anybody can upstage centuries old sauces using 711 ingredients.
>>
>>9079810
Examples, senpai >:( I'm a decent cook but my sauces are always lackluster and it pisses me off
>>
>>9078728
White rice increases your chances of diabetes

해파리 냉채 haepari naengchae
(julienned blached jellyfish served cold)

It's usually seasoned with Korean mustard (kinda like really stong Dijon minus the vinegary taste) and vinegar and served with julienned vegetabled and sometimes other seafood that are mild-tasting.

Jellyfish flesh has no real taste to speak of, but the slightly chewy and crunchy yet gelatinous texture it gets after blanching and rapidly cooling in cold water is what makes it a delicacy.

The secret to jjajang is the generous scoop of MSG added at the end of the cooking process.

Is kongguksu the worst korean food? I never liked when my mom made this desu
>>

It can taste like someone poured an icy sweet bean dessert into noodle.

It's an acquired taste.

Truly the year of Minjoo.
>>
>>9080021
Which kind of kimchi
>>
>>9080022
Did some work in Korea for 2 years. One of the offices we'd meet with would always take us to get this stuff. I'm a cultured man, but fuck it was hard to keep down.
>>
>>9080036
Baechu kimchi of course
I also like those cucumbers stuffed with baechu kimchi, I don't know the Korean name for that one.
>>
>>9080040
They were probably fucking with you.

Hongeo is widely recognized as something only a small subset of population can stomach even among Koreans.
>>
>>9078700
Japchae is disgusting. Dangmyun is meant to be put in broth not stir fried in oil so it sops up all the grease and becomes soggy and limp.
>>
>>9080000
Never tried hongeo, but bossam is delicious as fuark.
>>
>>9079930
Guess thats why everyone in Asia is fat and missing a foot
>>
>>9078668
Aw yiss, I love these.
>>
>>9078668
For me, its samgyupsal, rice, and a huge dab of gochujang, all nicely wrapped inside fresh sangchu. The best korean food imo lads.
>>

For non kogs, samgyupsal = pork belly
gochujang = hot pepper paste
sangchu = lettuce

Also, gochujang is inferior. Hit me with that doenjang w. samgyupsal tho (fermented bean paste)
>>
>>9080621

How fucking dare you.

Both Korea and Japan actually have a pretty bad problem with diabetes despite being nowhere near as overweight as western countries. All you have to do is google it
>>
Besides raw seafood and rice what do east Asians eat?
>>
>>9081326
Instant noodles
>>
>>9081326
tons of vegetables
>>
>>9081310
Tooth decay as well.
Japan overtakes even the USA when it comes to bad teeth.
>>
>>9081310

China too. Hypertension from the sodium (and smoking), diabetes from the massive rice consumption, and lung cancer from the smoking (and borderline apocalyptic air quality)

>>9081293

I always wondered why so many girls in asian porn have gross/fucked up teeth.
>>
>>9080000
I don't get the whole raw seafood meme, do people actually like this? it looks one step away from poo's street ecoli food
>>
>>9081368
High carb diets will do it.
