Great selection of a ton of stuff. But every time you go, you can never spend under $100. It's a curse.

>>

You don't need a membership to buy the hot dogs. uwu

Man im 6'5 I could eat a large pizza in a hour or 2 mediums but I wish I was a normal eater though where 3 slices and Im fine like my friends
But costco is great for bulk buying stuff and trying food there because you go huh this small pack of pizzas with pesto sauce and tomatos has 6 servings and its only $5 guess ill give it a go or look theres a liter sized container of dry powered ______ drink that I like for $3 ill buy it and try this other flavour right next to it. Hey this platter of deli cold cut/wrap is $11 and has 20 servings Ill get mt friends tommorow so we can eat, go hiking, and then cime back and finish it off. If your spending less than $40 it probably isnt worth it
Go for frozen or longer lasting stuff
>>
Hi.
>>
>>9076020
The hot dogs are worth it
>>
>>9076040

Because you're a poorfag who only has to buy for one? I generally get out for $20-$50 depending on what I need to buy.
>>
>>9076161
>let's waste gas and time going to the store every other day instead of buying everything I need for the next three months all at once

Fuck off
>>
>>9076176

Costco's is the best. Go buy the best stuff for the least amount of money and help yourself to basically a free hotdog and soda with free refills on your way out the door. Hit the gas station for a savings of 10 cents a gallon. At the end of the year get rewarded with member benefits and cash back rewards on your card... Company pays its people well and the stores are clean and offer products out of the bakery and butcher that can't be found anywhere else in town. They offer sizes on household consumables that mean you don't have to shop as often (like 700 gallon jugs of detergent)

For me, it's Costco. The best shopping experience.
>>
>>9076176

I don't have a car. It's twenty minutes to the store one way and I buy what I can carry.
>>
>>9075963
>>9076020

Their beef is great
Their produce is solid, not anything to write home about but tends to be fresher than supermarkets because they're selling so much of it
Their cheese selection is very nice, not like Whole Foods specialty grocer type cheese, but great for PARMESAN and things like sharp cheddar etc.
Their wine selection is basic but, again, solid and decently priced.
I also like their whole chickens. They are famous for their rotisserie ones (they're fucking CHEAP) but I still prefer to roast my own cuz I can do it better.

The Kirkland brand stuff (even the wine) is excellent as far as branded stuff goes. It's worth noting that in many cases it is the same as or even higher quality than the name brand, just commoditized and supply-chained out to where it's cheaper.

Non-food items, yeah they have them spades.

Also, the meme about having to buy a fuckton of whatever you're buying is true.

Overall I would say that it's at least worth trying Costco and just canceling your membership if you don't find yourself going there. It is a unique store.

You don't need membership for the food court.

>>9075963
Their food court is best bang for buck but the automatic conveyer belts for their baking runs a little too fast, so the bread/crust ends up tasting a bit doughy. You can fix this by baking it for a few more mins at home and then it ends up tasting perfect.

Their pizzas are very large compared to every other chain out there and only $10, even the combination/supreme.

You can get a hot dog and put grilled onions, relish, and ketchup or mustard for $1.50.

They also serve berry smoothies at $1.50.

The chicken bakes are big for $3.

The BBQ beef brisket sandwich is a little more premium at $5 but tastes excellent.

The churro sticks are also fairly big for $1 each.

Can't tell you about their fresh made gelato as my location doesn't make it.
>>
>>9076836
Costco churros are undercooked.

Are you saying he should have gotten 4?
>>
>>9075963
I work there, been there for 4 years what do you want to know
>>
>>9076836
wrong, you do, they ask you for your membership at the door, if you're in canada (like me) you can say you're going in to get medication, but they can have someone follow you who is called the floor walker if you're going to not get meds.

things we do well:

Cheap good meat, cheap good gas, cheap good jewellery, cheap good cakes.

other standardized products (protein powder, beans, spices, etc)

there are almost always better alternatives from a specialty store like a butcher, etc but for something the average person is going to be cooking they are pretty good, and cheap.

Avoid:
fresh produce/berries (generally) unless you're using it all in the same day/ night, except cucumbers and avacados, limes etc, expect at least 1 of the packaged goods to be 1-2 days from being thrown out.
>>
is the pee pee really that slippery at costco?
>>
>>9076836
>>9076836

also food court changes by region/ location im in winnipeg (canada), and we serve poutine, but no brisket sandwich, etc.

products are generally standardized though, so a brisket sandwich in texas, would be the same in winnipeg.

is it a good or shitty job how about the pay?.
>>
>>9077107
its the best retail place to work hands down, but its still working in retail, you can clock out with 60k if you work there for a long enough time. I sell TV's and jewelry, i packed groceries and have done enough early mornings to know what that is all about too.

They pay you well because its incredibly dissatisfying work and expect you to be a sort of "Step above" walmart/whole foods/ etc

They also don't advertise anywhere, so an (ex)employees word of mouth is best means to recruit and gain new traffic
>>
>>9076196
people like you are the reason both have a job, and hate it, because though i get those dollarinos indirectly from you (your word of mouth, and direct purchases), you also expect the song and dance that is a pleasurable retail experience.

I thank you, but i also dislike the hype you generate
>>
>>9076210
kirkland is generally off brand labels of the high end stuff, vodka is grey goose if i recall, not sure about any others (our costco doesn't sell booze/spirits)
>>
>>9075963
Annual membership is like 60$ iirc, so if you can save that much per year it's worth it. Decent selection of meats, great place to get anything that's sold in bulk, also a good place to get stuff like rice bags or car batteries. Every now and then you can even find some decent clothing deals.
>>
>>9077162
>I thank you, but i also dislike the hype you generate

As the poster of that message, allow me to explain to you that my line of work (software architecture) can also come with dissatisfaction. There is a certain song and dance that is expected of me as well where I work...

In fact, from talking with a good number of people - dissatisfaction with your job is a pretty common part of the modern human experience.

I thank you for your work. I thank you for making the best retail shopping experience possible. I don't expect more from you than you are capable of. I shop at costco because I have heard they treat their employees fairly and that is very important to me. I shop at publix for the same reason, even though I know i might be able to get groceries at krogers or walmart cheaper.

You guys are knocking it out of the ball park and all I ask is the same as any human is asked in their day to day work. Keep it up. The grind will always continue - that is what it means to be a human in a cold dark universe. You're killing it and their are millions of Americans out there that may take you for granted, but are exceedingly happy you are there to provide the shopping experience and product selection you provide. Together, we can, and will, make the universe a better place.

I cannot say enough good stuff about Costco, and so long as you guys keep it up.. I won't stop telling people how great you guys are.

Thank you, and I'm sorry about the hype - even though you deserve it.
>>
>>9077082
>hey ask you for your membership at the door, if you're in canada (like me)
They don't ask for it in the states.
>>
>>9077188
it evens out in the end, i have job which pays above minimum wage, you get some good groceries.

no one "enjoys" their job, and again its better than any other retail, and i don't mind the work.

it's just my summer job of sorts while i study for finance anyway
>>

a place for upper middle class moms to shit on wallmart because poorfags cant afford $50 memberships
>>
>>9075963
The rotisserie chicken is awesome. $6 gets you something to base three or four meals around.

In the U.S., the food court is really, really good. In Asia it kinda sucks balls, because they can't get the same quality of ingredients here, but that's life in Asia.

The food inside varies quite a lot. In the U.S., I rarely have any luck with the produce; usually it's on the verge of rotting. In Asia, it's the only place to shop for fresh vegetables. Prices are outrageous, but that's because they're mostly imported and of high quality. When they're locally sourced, they are also of high quality. Avoid the Malaysian mushrooms, though, they're usually on the verge of rotting.

Other goods, it's often the only place to find western-style foods here that are at all edible. Their cheese selection is excellent, and their wine selection is pretty good here (in the U.S. it's fantastic).

Also, here in Asia, I get easily twice as much at Costco as I can for the same price in the local markets. I am saving enough on cheese alone to pay for my membership many times over.
>>
>>9077547
>a place for upper middle class moms to shit on wallmart because poorfags cant afford $50 memberships

Its a little better than walmart, but this is true. As a true patrician, I am grateful of the barrier to entry that stops Shanequa from shopping here.

Nah. I currently CD ladder, and make money by placing money to the side with a 6% APY, with a consistent opening every 3 months. Have a good 401k plan which I am consistently moving my allotments around for maximum stock gains depending on the stock market.

Working at Costco, in one of the three positions that has higher pay than the rest, aside from salary based positions is quite nice.
>>
>>9077833

Not the Costco dude variant. But my Costco has starting pay $15/hr, and ramps up rather nicely, Sunday's are always time and a half.

Currently working 48 hours, 6 days/week.
Never work major holidays (Costco is closed)
Insurance is on par with US military insurance with minimal costs.
Dental included with medical.
Free vision screening and $175 allotment every year for new prescription.
Many different programs for health, and financial advice.
Not sure if all locations do the same, but safety standard benchmark free meals.
Free shit all the time with all the different concessions for skin care, smoothie making, etc...
My co-workers including all other departments are literally an extended family
>>
>>9077660
Why don't you slow down or lengthen the conveyor belts on your ovens so your dough isn't so chewy?
>>
>>9077899

When I did try and help out the food court to better themselves, they told me to slow down with my working. I told them to find me when they have a change of heart. Never again had I worked at that department. Oh well, their loss.

TL;DR
It's up to the department managers decisions for that one. Though my location, surprisingly has it on point.

TL;DR number 2
It's not the oven, that has only one size for conveyor, they can reduce the belt speed, though that would just cause the dough to burn. It's all on the timing for the dough to proof. Bakery proofed generally 1 hour 45 minutes for dough perfection.

>>
>>9078342

Sorry for my disappearance, I went to work, simply by walking the mile commute to work that I have.
15/hr is in the San Francisco counties here in California. Other counties, states and countries each carry their own salary. But I would hope that they at least would be slightly on par with being generous for the area.

Indeed the benefits are amazing, there are just so many different programs dedicated to health, finance and a lot of other areas.

For me and my co-workers it's basically one gigantic family. Of course there is that one guy that is a douche, but not everything is perfect.

I hope everything goes well for you if you do decide to apply.
I would recommend submitting an application towards September/ early October. Which is when the mass hiring for the holidays is. Usually hire about 70 right out the gate, and then after December, is when they decide to figure on who to keep.

The hot dogs and pizza are good but the problem is they have an abnormal amount of fat and salt. A slice of costco pizza is like half of a medium pizza at dominos. The hot dogs have trans fat and a lot more salt than say, wienerschnitzel hot dogs. It tastes good but if anyone who reads food labels sees it, they will throw up
>>
>>9076018
you understand that is over 2000 calories right? holy shit
>>
>>9083136
That's because a medium pizza at Dominos and Winerschnitzel dogs are tiny as fuck.
>>
>>9083215
Not really. All i need is like 2 chili dogs and some chili fries from wienerschnitzel. And 4 or 5 slices of a medium dominos. Yeah it adds up, but at least you get multiple things. One costco pizza slice or hot dog and you want more but just one has the same amount of nutrition as multiple other things
>>
>>9083391
>Not really
You pay $18+ for a medium sized combination pizza from Dominos vs the $10 equivalent at Costco, $1.80 ea. for W's small chili dogs vs $1.50 for loaded Costco dogs, and $3.20 alone for chili cheese fries.

>>9083136
>the problem is they have an abnormal amount of fat and salt. A slice of costco pizza is like half of a medium pizza at dominos
Here's your problem, A slice of Costco pizza IS half of a Domino's medium pizza. Why you prefer paying more for less another issue.
>>
>>9083443
Because i still want 2 hot dogs and 4 pieces of pizza, whether its from costco or another place. W can add up but 2 hot dogs and fries for 7-8$ is good for me and ive always really liked their chili. Meanwhile at dominos i just get the medium 2 topping pizzas for $6 x 2. Lasts a few days.
>>
>>9076023

My cake decorator is a crazy asian, who can literally go from cake base to done in 10 minutes. It can be rough at times, but even as "part time" it's 48 hours a week. The thing with our collaboration in the bakery is we all help each other out. I'm a baker, yet part time, decorator, also famously (w)rapping on occasion.

Once the ball rolls, it's not bad work, yet it is decently fast paced.

>>9083458

Usually lacking the amount of available trained cashiers is the case. Sometimes it's a skeleton crew (meaning no mid shift) cashiers, and only replacement when their shift is about to end.

OTOH, my Costco tends to usually minimum 5 cashiers at a time. Holidays are all but 2 registers being used. Besides the board runner (front end supervisor) is the head of the ship, to call for cashiers, assistants, or to send others for door/cart/floorwalks/etc... all that is mainly consistently being rotated, including sending workers on breaks and having fill ins and what not.

>>

>>9083904
Not necessarily, Costco actually does require membership card to be shown at the entrance, but some places can be lax about this conduct especially if there is a continuous stream of mob going in on a busy day. Everyone's experience may differ from store to store but the general policy is card must be shown to enter the premise.

As for the food court, this is where things get silly: Yes you do require a membership card, because the food court is inside the building and you're required to be a member to enter the premise. If it's an external food court then obviously it wouldn't be required.

It's literally for this reason. To keep stupid people out.
>>
>>9084796
This. One of the reasons people remain poor is they cannot understand an up front expense that is a small percent of the total amount they would save over the course of a year is cost effective. Thus, you don't have the volume of white trash and nignogs that will infest other groceries.
>>
>>9084831
While this is very true, a recent cost analysis showed that the majority of the items in Costco are no longer priced competitively. They have a large and loyal member base and the illusion of being cheaper so they don't have to anymore.
>>
>>9084796
costco sells shit though, id rather buy from my local italian grocer that sells high quality frtuit veg and meat. i wouldnt even buy that many things from there, mainly the non bulk sales honestly
>>
>>9084883
This isn't true. It may be true for household consumables where the price being equal is ok because the larger amount is more convenient to consumers anyway, but if you compare a pressure washer, or a mattress, or the price of gas, or meat or bakery items - in many cases you simply can't even find the level of quality offered anywhere else at any price, and a large percent of the time on high dollar items you can recoup your membership fees in a single purchase. This year I bought 2 full air conditioning systems and wouldn't have been able to find 2 lennox 4 ton units for cheaper anywhere else on the planet. The deal came with 15% back on a Costco cash card and I upgraded to executive membership for 50 bucks and that got me and extra 400 bucks back on my membership rewards at the end of the year.

Last year I bought a $300 vaccuum for 200 bucks. 50 dollar yearly membership paid for. Best cash back card in the industry used to pay for it, bought cheap gas and a $1.50 hotdog and soda on my way out the door.

Stay poor retards.
>>
>>9084909
>shopping at Costco for meat and produce
Doing it wrong.
>>
>>9084883
Strange. I don't have a COSTCO near me so I do Sam's and buy staples like meat, pasta, fish, dogfood, beans, canned tuna, coffee, eggs, oils, toilet paper, paper towels, and a few condiments and I periodically check the lower priced groceries and on those staple type items the quality is better and the price lower. I have noticed they tend to be more expensive than groceries on the processed stuff, though.
>>
>>9084937
No, you should definitely buy meat there. I buy whole Prime NY Strip for $7.99 a pound. If you do your own butchering, the whole / partial primals a great deal there.
>>
>>9084937
kinda my point, theyre the main things i buy. ive course i try to save money where possible but id rather buy better quality stuff than cheap stuff.
>>
>>9084949

Costco whole beef tenderloins for 10.99 a pound.

why does costco have a membership

it is sixty dollars for a membership. that's nothing compared to what people spend at stores. sixty dollars is a fraction of one grocery outing. If you weren't deterring customers with your membeship, you would make much more money if you were open to everyone because people flock to wherever is cheapest.

you would be the new wal-mart
>>
>>9085701
not being the overall cheapest + incentive to shop at costco (make up for loss in membership cost)
>>
>>9085731
if it's not the cheapest why would i buy a membership that's baka
>>
>>9085736

>>
>>9084226
The ones in my area have two openings, one is the normal entrance for members, the other is the normal exit from the store plus the entrance to the membership counter and food court. The second entrance doesn't require you to have a membership to get in, and they never check your card when you buy stuff from the food court.
>>
>>9085701
Read before you start posting stupid shit. Costco sells stuff at cost or below on almost all of their products. Membership fees are the only thing they actually make money on.

>yes you do
>no you don't
>nigga stfu I'll bust a cap in yo ass you need one
>fucc nigga chill dude but no you don't

In case you lovers didn't notice, it varies depending on whether the food court is inside or outside. In cold-weather locations where they have to locate it inside the warehouse proper (but still usually after the cashiers), you have to show your membership card to get to it. In locations where the food court is outside, or at least not within the members-only part of the warehouse, you don't need a membership card to access it.

Source: have eaten at Costcos in Kirkland (outside, no card needed), Seattle downtown (inside, need a card), Chicago suburbs (inside, need a card), Idaho (inside but not in the warehouse proper, no card needed), and a few others.
>>
>>9085782
>retarded shit people actually believe
>>
>>9085761
Two openings are the standard for all Costco locations, one exit and one entrance. Regardless they all (and are supposed to) ask for a card if you're entering either side unless you're signing up for one. Food court doesn't give a shit about requiring cards but it's inside the building, which requires a card to access in the first place; but like I said rules can be lax depending on location and foot traffic. Majority of the Costco near me all have the food court outside so I didn't have to deal with the card thing until I went to a Costco up in Seattle, which did ask for a card when I went inside through the exit for the food court.

Speaking of pharmacy, If you are uninsured, but have a costco membership, their medication is the cheapest I've found.

My ssri prescription there was $16 vs >$350 at CVS. They have a pseudo-insurance plan that all their members are privy to.

Well it has its own pharmacy prices for the uninsured. I'm sure even if you do have a prescription but no membership, you could still get into most Costco's for the purpose of medicine through the pharmacy.

Basically it's a steal from any other place for if not having insurance. It's not the same exact as to what I have, though it is discounted from full retail value and such.

The only food items I avoid are the ground beef as I have had poor luck with them a few times. Other than that their meats are a great deal, especially the rotisserie chicken. Like many other anons have mentioned the berries and some produce tend to spoil unless divided up, so I only get this when shopping with my family. We just take split what we know we're gonna use between us and it works out fine.

I wish I lived in a state that allowed liquor sales outside of ABC stores, from what I heard via Consumer Reports their Kirkland booze is surprisingly good for its price point.

Yes, it's all about convenience.
I like to trigger you with the cuck word. It's fun.
Anyhow, I understand about doing the rules and all, it's just that is really really inconvenient.
At the end of the day, you still need to show your id to the cashier so what gives? What's the necessity of asking for it at the entrance? Redundant.
>>
>>9087051
Do you live in the middle of fucking nowhere?
>>
>>9098777
Depending on what that acronym is used for, possibly?

>>9098813
How is it so inconvenient? Explain this to me.
By the by, the note of the card at the door, is to deter those who just want to pop in for a free meal and get out.
There are the dozen or so samplers sprawled throughout the warehouse. In which they display certain products, and give out an allotted amount of samples.
Granted for having the card, you can make your own descisions, the samples are there for a quick bite to see if you may grab that said item from the shelf.
Someone without a card, will basically waste the resource because they cannot purchase said item.

At the end of the day, there are still rules that literally take a second of your time to make everyone's life that much easier.
>>
>>9098858

Your response tells me no. You'd know if you were /cds/.
>>

>>
>>9098858
It's inconvenient because it take 10 seconds of my time and energy to take out my wallet and pulling out my card.
Sounds petty but it's really annoying.
Also, the Costco where I buy it's located in a nice zone, so freeloaders usually don't end up here.
>>
>>9099819
>10 seconds of your time and energy.
Dude, are you really that in a hurry? Gotta get there 10 seconds sooner or you can't feed your family.
Or you could have one wallet with one of those plastic windows, and put the card there. Simple easy fix for the 10 seconds literally to whip out the wallet and put it away.
Sounds like you are just lazy, and don't want to bother with the rules of simplicity of showing your damned card.
>>
>>9076031
Some costcos do require you to show your membership card to get in to the food court. There is one location near me that does this, but the other two do not.
>>
>>9099819

What time and energy? You get it out while you're walking from the parking lot to the front door. You put it away while you're walking from the front door to wherever it is you're going inside the store.

Most Costco's will not let you enter the exit door.
At least in mine, the exiting door crew tells people to enter through the entrance, as so people making returns and food court do not clog up the exit for those who are exiting the building.
Besides the entrance door person slaps a small yellow/pink return tag onto said return items.
So actually the ENTRANCE is the only form of entering the building, the exit door is simply an exit, not an entrance to membership/returns. Your logic of an exit being an entrance is beyond me.
