OK so Father's day is coming up, I figure I'll make my dad some scones. I've never made scones before, but the recipes online look pretty simple. My question is, what do I do to make these scones really good? Is there a scone trick? Is there a special scone recipe that you've used to great effect? Typical pitfalls that scone newbies can fall into?
Give me your scone knowledge!
i thought your father was dead.

Does he like scones in particular? That's sort of unusual to do for Father's Day. Usually people are looking at something like steak. Scones seem more of a Mother's Day kind of thing. Not sure why I think of scones as unmanly.

My dad is from up north, he likes thick not very sweet deserts that seems like they could last you through the winter. One of his favortie foods is this polish thing that's just mashed potatoes wrapped in bread.
And I don't think I've ever seen him eat a steak or express a desire to eat a steak.
Thats a sconce. Not a scone.
