Cut it into a fibonacci sequence
i like chunky rectangles.
never cut too thin. you'll lose the crunch.

cut it in half and eat it with a spoon. it is the only correct way.

OP, I get out my biggest knife or cleaver. Set out my cutting board. Set out a glass bowl for storage. Set out a disposable grocery bag next to it. I scrub and wash the outside rind with warm soapy water at the sink, rinse, and pat dry. I cut in half, set aside half, and then I flip it over flesh side down, and section again and again, until I can get all of the ring removed and slice off right into the disposable bag (think of it like my junk bowl). I kind of slice off the peel like a orange in whatever way my knife allows. Once I get all flesh, I do a quick cleanup and toss the rinds (or make pickles if it was especially white), I do very large cubes VERY LARGE, into a bowl and park that in the fridge. Less surface area means I can enjoy it a couple more days before it goes bad and starts to break down.
If I'm the only one eating watermelon for a couple of days, I'll wrap up that 2nd half in plastic and park it in the fridge drawer and wait a couple more days to section that half into chunks.
I love cold watermelon in the mornings, esp after a hangover. So yummy.
