This isn't common here in New Zealand but I've often wondered what it tastes like.
Does it taste anything like mayonnaise?

no
it's like blue cheese dressing but with an emphasis on the sour instead of the tart because there's no cheese
they have dry packets that you can mix with sour cream

>Calls me a faggot
>Shops at Pak'n'Slave
Not all towns in NZ have a Pak'n'Slave nearby.
>Sorry you don't have a job and can't shop at New World or Countdown
>Enjoy your South Auckland life bro.

It's basically thin mayo with herbs, and maybe a bit of buttermilk.

as an australian in a similar situation to you, not like good mayo, i didn't like it much a weird sourness to it although i havehad it at subway sometimes and that went pretty well

They usually make it with oil and water, and then add buttermilk powder for the tang. Fresh buttermilk tastes a lot different.

it is tangy but this description makes it sound way more disgusting than it is

Thanks everyone for your input. I just wondered how a thing like this would taste, I might give it a try.

I like it a lot on pizza. It's a controversial kind of food opinion, but it's also quite popular where I live. It's common to put also on salads or use as a dip for vegetables, of course, but I think it does better with strong flavors like pizza or buffalo wings.

Tastes like spiced buttermilk, which is disgusting. You're not missing out on anything special.
Buttermilk + sour cream seasoned with garlic, onion, and black pepper.
