I had a jewish roommate that bought a jar of that stuff as an experiment. We all agreed to try it as a group as long as nobody pussied out. It was pretty bad, pretty much cat-food tier. Surprisingly out of 6 people, it was the Jew that ended up vomiting

When you buy it preserved in liquid it has a terrible jellied texture. The texture is worse than the taste honestly, but the smell is also revolting. IIRC it wasn't purely the taste that was terrible, just everything else about it was so bad that it makes your brain think it's awful.
