Can I ask what race you are and where your ancestors came from? The only time I've heard about cilantro tasting like soap to some people has been online so I've never seen what the people who taste it like that look like. I'm just curious if it's only Asians, only Arabs, only blacks, etc. Because whites and Hispanics love the shit out of cilantro pretty universally.

I was asking about his race, not his heritage. Although some Americans do still cling to their heritage (usually with Irish, Mexican, Jewish and, of course, people from Muslim countries who can never seem to fit into any non-Muslim countries), in my experience, most Americans describe their heritage as being from the state where their extended family lives (i.e., Texas or "the South").

I think a whole lot of people have had amazingly terrible boba tea served to them. It's no wonder they don't know what a good one would be like. The tolerance for the tapioca to be prepared wrong is insane, like not only can it be crunchy in the center and flavorless, it can even be replaced with sweet potato starch and other garbage instead of 100% pure tapioca. Those factors combined with flavor powder and bad lactose free milk or milk powder mixes mean there is some unfathomably shit milk tea, but when it's good, oh baby is it fucking good. Luckily one chain is getting it right most of the time, and that is Kung Fu Tea, and they are expanding rapidly in some areas.
>>
>>8958018

Kungfu is a godlike franchise, the instructions they leave people and the products they use are a 10/10.
>>
>>8958036
Honey infused boba, 100% tapioca and a soft doughy center, every time. And then the tea mixes themselves are really quite good.

>>
>>8958038
They have some pretty good variety too, can definitely stand behind their milk teas. Didnt try very much of their fruit teas so cant say very much about those.

My favorite tea for the summer is honey citron though, a korean drink but btfo anything else for hydrating.

"Street tacos" have some actual autheticity, as they are what a taqueria really serves. Generally it's nothing but a really good fresh tortilla served with the best meat they can muster and simply cilantro and onion on top. Though a combination of crumbled white cheese, crema and tomatoes is not too much of a deviation.
>>
>>8956955

There was no indication of where the original person came from, be it America or Nigeria. It was not an unfair question to ask his race, or to add the caveat of where his ancestors came from, in case they emigrated.

So? German cuisine uses a lot of potatoes, but potatoes are a New World food, so not a traditional ingredient that Germans evolved alongside, like dairy. On the other hand, dairy is in fact popular in Asia, where people did NOT evolve alongside cows. Despite many Asians being lactose intolerant, not all are. Some are perfectly capable of drinking milk.

No, I didn't "miss the point entirely." Not at all. You're living in the land of your own delusions. I think you legit have autism.

In my post, I asked an open ended question - not a limiting question, an open ended one. Do you want me to quote it for you because your mind is too feeble to follow a conversation history on 4chan?

Look: at >>8957399. It's right in the first sentence.
>Can I ask what race you are and where your ancestors came from?
OK, technically it's grammatically a yes/no question. I know that autists love to have petty victories based on technicalities. However, if you're able to use your brain for more than just self-gratification, you'll be able to read the embedded questions that start with the fourth word of the sentence, which were the point of the utterance and are both non-limiting, wh-questions. "What race are you?" and "Where did your ancestors come from?" Read them again. These two clauses are the point of the utterance.

Let's keep reading, shall we? This is really a job that your therapist should be doing with you while you are drugged up, but I'm sick of the shitposting, so I'll do some autism therapy work for you for free.
>The only time I've heard about cilantro tasting like soap to some people has been online so I've never seen what the people who taste it like that look like.
This should be interpreted as background information or motivation for the inquiry. It seems straightforward to me. Did it confuse you why I wrote that sentence? Just try to practice your empathy, think about what I'm thinking, and it will all make sense.

Moving forward...
>I'm just curious if it's only Asians, only Arabs, only blacks, etc. Because whites and Hispanics love the shit out of cilantro pretty universally.
Did you notice the "etc." That's Latin for "and others." Again, I'm intentionally leaving the class of nouns known as human races open ended. Yes, I mentioned Hispanics and whites, but did I say anything about any "races" of people NOT using cilantro in their cooking? No, I didn't.

>>
>>8964036

Pick one queer
>>
>>8964036
What are you talking about? There's no language change involved when a German immigrates to America and his kids, grandkids and all subsequent generations only grow up speaking English at home. If they learn German later in life, it would be as a foreign language.
>>
>>8964049
We are talking about "german heritage" and not about german immigrants.
Native english speakers learning german does sound off. Why is this surprising?
Listen to Germans speak English.
>>
>>8964036
>of course language changes over time

True, but that isn't what causes an "accent" to the ears of a native speaker. It's the fact that the phonetics of the second language are interpreted by the nonnative speaker in terms of the phonetics of his first language. Those will be different and hence sound different. It takes complete immersion for an extended period of time with diligently focused practice to eliminate accent.
>>
>>8964036
>>8964014
>>8964061

You don't really understand how Americans view heritage, then. I'll give you an example. My grandfather's grandfather came here from Germany, but my grandfather didn't grow up speaking German at all. He tried learning it later in life for a trip there, but that's it, he views himself as American, not German. It's very uncommon for immigrants to America from Europe to maintain too many of their traditions, especially their heritage languages. All my family really does which is still German-like is we bake and decorate cookies around Christmas time that contain anise (licorice flavoring).

We don't have any awareness of being German because there are other relatives in the mixture who came from England and possibly other countries. There are plenty of branches of my family tree whom I have NO IDEA where they came from. For example, all I know about my grandfather's grandmother (the one who married the German immigrant) is that she was very poor and was living in a cabin in the Ozarks (region in USA) before marrying him. You may be aware of websites like 23andme.com, but try actually watching some of the promo videos for it. Americans do these kinds of genetic tests because we are genuinely curious to learn about our racial backgrounds. We really don't know where all our ancestors came from.

Let's face the facts, though. If your family has been here for more than a generation and they still haven't renounced all loyalties to their homeland, then you're not really American. "Melting pot" comes from the experience of immigrants from different European nations losing all of their former ties within a single generation because their kids all looked the same and had no reason to think they were different.

>>
>>8964098
This is not entirely true. Americans study European history in school because America was founded by Europeans, for Europeans, using European philosophical traditions. The country just doesn't happen to be located on the European continent.

Hmmm, well things are different for different groups of people. My German ancestors migrated here in the 1840s, and the entire community continued to speak German well into the late 20th century. My dad didn't learn to speak English till he went to school in the 1940s, and when I was growing up in the 1980s, all the adults still spoke German to each other. My generation is the first generation in my hometown that wasn't taught German before English, mostly due to how Germans in America were treated during WWII. My hometown had to be quarantined for their own safety because people from surrounding towns would drive through and throw garbage, rocks, and molotov cocktails at locals and local businesses. So, while my spoken German isn't very good, I can read it pretty well, and I can understand it when it's spoken around me. Another strange thing is that the German spoken in my hometown is like old German, because it never evolved once they immigrated here, so to modern Germans that visit, people in our town sound archaic and strange. There have been linguistic experts who've come and documented the German spoken, since it's considered a very specific dialect.
But, everyone in town has always considered themselves American first, my ancestors were the only people to make a true and lasting peace treaty with the Comanche tribes, nearly half the damn town fought in WWI and WWII (I lost several great uncles to those wars), my dad was in the Army during the Korean war (although he ended up stationed in Europe). Both my parents still speak German regularly, even though they were both born here, long after their ancestors came, and still keep up LOTS of German tradition, as does pretty much the whole town (although it's changing now that the town has grown so much with people moving in from all over), but they identify as American.
Anyway, culture and heritage isn't as simple in the US as it is in older countries.

Good post. Especially in the US where the entire populace are immigrants it makes the country richer to have areas that are different and hold to their traditions while still identifying as american. Imho, one of the terrible elements of american culture is the attempt by multinational corporations to homogenize the US. When you watch an old tv program like Route 66 from the 50's and 60's, each area had a unique culture. This is valuable.
>>
>>8964310
Situations are indeed different for different groups of people, but the situation you describe is not, in my experience, the norm. I chose German because I have some background there, but I know many people whose families originally came over from Russia, Sweden, France, Italy, also from Germany and other places, and their stories are closer to mine than to yours in terms of how much their families retained their European roots upon coming to America. Even for the parts of my family that come from England, it's really just the language that remains, and that's probably only because it's the majority language of America.

>>8964443
>it makes the country richer to have areas that are different and hold to their traditions
This has been debunked by reputable studies, including one conducted at Harvard. Indeed, that poster's own story provides evidence to the contrary: "My hometown had to be quarantined for their own safety because people from surrounding towns would drive through and throw garbage, rocks, and molotov cocktails at locals and local businesses." This story doesn't paint a picture of social cohesion, my ethnic friend. It paints a picture of social CONFLICT.

>When you watch an old tv program like Route 66 from the 50's and 60's, each area had a unique culture. This is valuable.
In the 1950s, America was 90% white and majority Christian. So.... not really diverse at all, actually. Everybody had the same culture and you know what? There's nothing wrong with that. If we look at the results, the 90% white America won two world wars and got us to the Moon, so I would say that they were doing something right back then, wouldn't you? These days, our President can't even ask NASA to research a trip to Mars without race-baiting and other racial/ethnic division hamstringing our progress.

>As the poster who wrote that story, you failed to take into account that it happened during WWII, and is NOTHING compared to what Japanese Americans had to endure during WWII. It happened DURING a time of conflict, so it's not applicable across the board.
No, that's not true. You don't know your history. There had been conflict between native-born Americans and German immigrants for a hundred years prior to WWII. It materialized as "anti-Catholic" sentiment and rioting in the mid-19th century, but that was a response to German and Irish immigration, since they were mostly Catholic.

Diversity plus proximity is the recipe for ethnic conflict. It doesn't matter who was the aggressor, just that there was one, and there was bound to be one due to the basic fact that humans are inherently tribal in nature. Even if you just focus on the story posted in this thread, what do you think happened to non-Germans in Germany during WWII, or non-Japanese in Japan? Spoiler: it was a whole lot worse than getting Molotov cocktails thrown into their businesses. But I bet you'd say that only white, native-born, straight, male Americans were the guilty ones. The real question is, why weren't those people fully integrated into American society so they couldn't be distinguished from native-born Americans.

No. I didn't paint any pictures. I linked the US Census results from that time which speak for themselves. I just described reality.

>There wasn't yet the multinational corporate stranglehold seeking to make us one homogenous unit.
What do you think that even means? I'm not aware of a single "multinational corporation" today trying to promote racial or cultural homogeneity in America. However, I can cite a large number of corporations who favor hiring immigrants, or at least promoting immigration in massive numbers. Can you support your claims with sources?

>Strange, you hate big govt. yet you love the real enemy of freedom, multinational corporations.
Strange, I didn't mention my view of government once, yet you claim to know me well enough to make claims about my personal political views.

You're getting a lopsided view of history, friendo. All the Germans that settled my hometown (and a few other towns in the same state, that came off the same boat) were 80% Lutheran. And, even in my own, town, the German Lutherans and the German Catholics had their own neighborhoods. Even today, if you're a native, you know that the north side of town is Lutheran, and the south side is Catholic.
And since the majority of immigrants to America were German, those conflicts you're talking about were localized and not widespread.
>>
>>8965072
>But I bet you'd say that only white, native-born, straight, male Americans were the guilty ones.
Jesus, what kind of fucking chip do you have on your shoulder, whack job? You're an idiot.

Horatio? That's not even close to a German name. Are you drunk, or just stupid?

Nope, you were replying to me. Perhaps you don't know who you're replying to.

I guess I shouldn't have given you the benefit of the doubt. Saying that someone has "a giant chip on their shoulder" is not an argument.

Can confirm, high quality shit. The feeling of it going from solid to liquid isn't just fun, but it's also much more convenient than dealing with regular lube.

Got a bag of these, not a tin or a box, at the store recently. Meme version does not compare to the proper version in any way. Absolutely terrible, the actual biscuit part of it was stale, no texture like good stroopwaffel should have. Don't buy into this meme.

In relation to stomach absorption: "Carbonation increases pressure in the stomach, which helps to force alcohol into the bloodstream via the stomach lining."

It's similar with other drugs

Americans act like it's amazing.
Why not just use sausage instead of hotdog meat?
