Eat it sometimes, tastes and has the consistency of thick risotto.
The good thing about oats are their natural creaminess, so take whatever ingredients the recipe calls for, exchange the liquid with about 3x that amount in your favorite broth, and you have a very hardy stew.

I'd lie to think savory oatmeal would work better with less creamier oats to give it more of a rice-like texture

Grits are better

Your picture looks like risotto.
That being said, I've made savory breakfast oatmeal twice. The first time it was awful, but I gave the recipe the benefit of the doubt, so tried it again. Still awful. Some things aren't meant to be.
Oatmeal should be plain or sweetened with a touch of honey, brown sugar, or banana. No more, no less.

That looks like stew but with porridge instead of potatoes. I'd try it. :/

it's something I want to try, I like savory things way more than sweet things. I do savory in cottage cheese so I think I'd eat way more oatmeal if I could find easy savory shit to put in it
OP here, just made my first batch of savory oats. Used mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, red onion; some grated chedder cheese and salt + pepper
It was really tasty. I think savory oats is going to become a new breakfast staple for me.
when i was poor i just fried onions with loads of veg and mix it in porridge and it was cheap and filling.
