i was just reading about the process of using hexane to separate soy 'whey' from protein. could you elaborate on what you know? as its a very topical subject for me personally.

also, if you know. id read about soy amino acids being difficult for our body to digest without being fermented ahead of time. would that be also true for the magnified levels of protein in textured soy protein? could something like TSP be similar to gluten when it comes to our ability to dissolve it?

Process cheese food is still made from dairy.

That's IMITATION process cheese food, there's basically no milk in it and it has some casein protein mixed in so they can still use the word "cheese" on the package.
One time I accidentally bought a bag of "no-melt" imitation shredded cheese and didn't find out until I had tried to melt it and it was just curling up like plastic.
It's literally plastic.

There is still a lot of meat that isn't tender, and you substitute it for ground beef. Plus the best way is deer sausage that has some pork fat added.

anyway point was he would refuse to let the wildlife processors add fat, seasonings, or anything else because it would cost slightly more.

Vegan here. It just depends on the company. If you get some vile shit like morningstar farms then yeah, it's a chunk of processed soy. On the other hand, there are plenty of common brands like tofurky that might have a lot of ingredients but it's just normal stuff. Pic is tofurky's apple sausages, which are top tier, and as you see it's basically just wheat gluten, tofu and potatoes with some seasoning.

I suppose you could call vital wheat gluten "processed" but it's not much of a process and people have been preparing and eating it as a meat substitute since the 6th century at least.
>>
>>8871590

Not the same anon but generally anything that you're seeing as a food additive that's a concentrated or isolated portion of some whole food is both bad for you and probably produced by some sketchy process.

There are some exceptions (like wheat gluten, which is just produced by washing wheat flour with water until all the starch is removed) but if you see shit like "soy protein isolate" or "whey protein isolate" then you should stay away. Aside from the often sketchy processes used to isolate these ingredients, your body is built to digest food in its whole form and doesn't handle shit like isolated soy protein as well as it does whole soybeans.

Processed cheese 'food'

which is imitation american cheese singles
>>
>>8871335
My guess would by jello.
But "cheeze whiz" also comes to mind.
>>
>>8884430
Jello comes from skin, hair, hooves, and other kearatins that are processed into a gelatin and then artificially flavored. The FDA has a special category for it - not quite a food and not quite a chemical. This special category sidesteps most FDA regulations.

And Cheeze Whiz is literally just a chemical concoction disguised to vaguely look like cheese.
>>
>>8872605
underrated
>>
>>8871335

Debatable as to whether it's a food, but chewing gum (aside from expensive 'natural' versions) is made from synthetic latex and rubber, so is essentially a petrol product. Add in a few artificial sweeteners and flavours, and you're good to go.

reality check for naysayers

We're probably going to be able to engineer better control of the texture and flavors of artificial meat than we do of current meat. in addition, real meat is expensive- it's got to grow on bones and which also grow and can only grow when fed by a digestive system that can't be fed without the most "costly" part of all- a nervous system

there's a huge margin for improvement on that in a shift to artificial meat.

it may not be good now but art-meat will be king one day.

>when your product is so artificial that you're legally not allowed to call it what it's trying to be

For it to not qualify as ice cream, it has to have less than 10% milk product, AND it can't be whipped more than 100%. Yet breyers fails on both fronts.
>>
>>8887962
I've heard the argument otherwise. No matter how advanced we get in producing artificial meat it won't be as efficient as simply raising an animal. Plus it doesn't require an advanced science facility to raise a cow.

Vat grown animals are much more likely.
