I home brew cider from local places and even if I show up at the end of the day I can always get 5 gallons worth if it's in season.

I haven't watched the show in so long. Does it even air anymore? It actually got me to try making my own apple cider though, now every year I go to a local orchard and pick some fresh apples to make cider, pie, and fritters with.

Can't you get it at an orchard in the fall? I grew up in Vermont where it was abundant. What's sold in grocery stores here in California is a cheap ersatz facsimile so I can understand the frustration.
