Hey, /ck/.
I'd like to try ADF which appears to have a lot of scientific backing.
I'm wondering what I should be cooking on the fasting day. I was first thinking maybe just finding some salad bar wherever and fill up with some chicken bits and shit, but I'm thinking it'd probably be cheaper to make something myself (perhaps even a weeks worth of fasting day food).
Fasting days should be around 500 calories.
Any suggestions?

What are you asking? What you should eat on fasting days? You already answered your own question. 500 calories of whatever you want. This thread is dumb.
I would just eat some veggies throughout the day like celery, carrots, peppers, etc. that way you can keep satiating you hunger slightly all day

>What you should eat on fasting days?
I thought it was obvious. Yes, I want to know what options I have. Since there are so few calories, something nutritious would likely be best, but I'm not sure what or how to make it.

That's something to think about too. I'm not sure whether it's better to eat throughout the day or in one meal. For me I think the latter would work best.

It has no scientific backing whatsoever. Where are even getting that? If you look at the recently published analyses of the available scientific literature, there is nothing that would even begin to give grounds for someone to pursue ADF for health reasons. As the authors point out each time, timed fasting is one of those areas where the rift between public discourse and actual science couldn't possible be wider. It sells a lot of books though, bodybuilders use it to distract from their steroid use etc.

Wow it's fucking nothing. Thanks for proving my point.

It shows a lot of promise, but in typical scientific language more research is always needed. It's definitely not the case that there's "no scientific backing whatsoever", so I can understand why your anus hurts.
I believe two of the articles linked are reviews too.
There are a lot of myths surrounding calorie restriction diets, but the benefits are clear. For example, don't worry about muscle loss.

After some research I figured out that my usual salmon dinner would actually be good enough. Guess eating that twice a week is fine.
Whatever, I think I figured it out.
