Who here /deliveroo/?

Been working from them since march, and really loving it. I'm a student so I don't get fucked over by their 'we're not an employer'-policy. Including tips and bonusses, I make 12 euro's per hour on average.
I get to ride my bike and deliver really nice food to rich hipster girls, what's not to like?
>>
I work in the underwriting department of an insurance company and secretly give white people lower premiums
>>
I don't know where deliveroo gets their deliverers from but they're all assholes with no road etiquette and very limited cycling ability and usually shit bikes. Had one of them literally lean on the sill of my driver's side window. What the fuck.

At least the regular messengers can track stand at lights and have cool bikes.

It's uber for food. Basically it means they don't have to treat their workers well or give them minimum wages/hours/protections because they're not a food delivery company they """just put people who want food in contact with people who want to deliver it""".

There's no way these companies can exist without fucking over their workers. Their margins are pretty razor thin because there's not really any economy of scale to take advantage of here.
>>
>>8843485
Someone was telling me that the reason they keep hiring drivers despite already having too many is because each driver has to put down a £150 deposit for their jacket/bag etc. Supposedly this gives the impression of cash flow and keeps the investors happy. Not sure how true this is though.

Who the fuck said anything about running over people?

I live outside of Detroit, so growing up I'd go to a lot of car shows, or meetups. I don't to the Woodward Dream Cruise every year, the largest car cruise in America. Lots of shitty cars, lots of ricers, lots of classic cars, lots of expensive sports cars. The one thing my parents hammered into my head was that you don't touch what doesn't belong to you. Some of the paint jobs on these cars are worth more than your bike.
Regardless, it isn't a Cyclist vs Drivers thing, it's a basic common courtesy. I wouldn't touch your bike without permission, because I don't want you, or anyone touching my car without permission.

>Pic related, he can touch my $4000 paint job. You, nor anyone else, cyclist or not, can.

>citywide 25mph limit

I'm not sure if cagers understand this since the operation of their vehicle alternates between pushing their foot all the way down on two different pedals that they can barely distinguish to save their lives, but it's actually not that easy to stay upright if you ride too slowly

Cars fuck with walkers and bikers for fun. We all know this.
You fucking retards scream and honk at me for no reason while I'm walking and trigger epileptic seizures. Same with the high beams.

I'm convinced everybody that owns a vehicle is a fucking moron. I'm adding up about 200 trips to the hospital simply because epileptics aren't allowed to drive in the US and you fucking retards feel the need to do this shit.

Fuck off drivers. Leave walkers and bikers the fuck alone.

Tell you what. Bring your cage to New York. I'll touch it. Then you can shoot me with your freedom gun and go to jail for life. OP here. To clarify, I live in Belgium so all this only applies to Deliveroo's Belgium branch.

>>8843239
Meh, this does apply to some riders in my town, but a big part of our team are all quite professional. Most of us are cycling enthousiasts and sport decent bikes. I use a 2.000 euro Trek myself. I've been cycling for years and got my road etiquette down. I guess this just depends from rider to rider and from town to town.

>>8843301
>>8843442
What he said, basically. Uber for food. They provide us with our gear (except bike and phone), technical support and a phone app to do our job. They do not technically emply us, we're basically freelancers. A payrol company for independent workers handles payments, etc.

From what I gathered, UK riders are getting fucked over, but that's not the case in Belgium. They're bound by Belgian law, so can't go under minimum wage or anything like that.

>>8843665
Horeshit. There's no deposit. Your friend's an idiot.

>>8844255
First Responder here, I am going to break it down for you so you can improve your shitposting in the future.

>20mph in a 25mph zone was too slow and you fucking assholes ran over me and shattered my clavicle
A 20MPH crash would likely result in you getting tossed over the car, and not run over or anywhere even near the underside of the, especially if you were only clipped. "You assholes" is an ambiguous subject here. Additionally, injuries to a clavicle generally heal within 8 to 10 weeks with no lasting issues. Being the only injury you listed, it would have been a clean break and not a "shatter."
>200 trips to the hospital
Epileptic seizures usually do not requrie hospitalization, and are not triggered by "screaming" or noise, or a flash of a highbeam.
>epileptics aren't allowed to drive in the US
This varies by severity and state. I suggest you move and then you can honk at pedestrians too.

A 20MPH crash is simply not fast enough for someone to go under, retard.

He googled "wuts the worst bone to break" and picked he one that wouldn't leave him paralyzed.

>epileptics are not allowed to drive in the US
>>Each state has individual driving regulations. People with epilepsy are required to report their condition to their State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). However, states require different people to do the reporting. Some states require the doctor to contact the DMV. Other states require the patient to sign a simple form at the time of application for a license or at the time of license renewal, declaring that they will notify the DMV of changes in their health status or driving ability.

It's a wonder that cars aren't outlawed when people us them to express their emotions and attack people who have to walk.

I guess it's hard to understand that there are people in your country that will spend years in jail if they ever got caught driving, because of seizures or other disorders, but it's best to just honk at them, hit them with high beams, scream at them and let them go.
They can't help it, they were on the side of the road, they were bound oto be harassed for using their legs, the dumbasses.

Weakass fucks like you that get a couple of bruises or a broken bone and wallow in self pity and rage for the rest of their lives should have lived 100 years ago when double amputees pushed themselves around on a wheeled tray doing odd jobs to survive. You learned a valuable lesson the hard way: Don't violate peoples space. But don't expect people to pity you, leech.

Well of course you would, cager. You didn't appreciate your body to begin with, you consider it a burden which is why you have a 5,000 pound motorized wheelchair to carry it around for you

I was also just wondering why you think its ok to touch other peoples property that doesn't belong to you, could you explain this without going off on an autistic rant about people shooting you and bringing up obama for no reason?

All bikes in the $100 range work extremely well and last for years. Buying a $4000 aircraft grade aluminum titanium space grade antigravity lightweight alloy tour de france 2643 edition space bike with a titanium chair with butt crease on top is literally the autism you describe.

Why the fuck do people on thisthis board get slightly upset and call everything autism while suggesting people do autistic things?

Bikes are $100 you fucking retard.
t.The autistic kid who just shat on you, faggot.

I work for a different company, same service
It's not a lot of money but I'm used to a humble life so I don't mind it, I get paid to ride all day, or sometimes just take a nap in a park for 4 hours (when I'm doing a shift for a restaurant that hardly ever needs a delivery [still get paid])
>>
>>8844647
Why would I ride a $4000 Di2 fred sled to work, in the rain, in the snow and salt slush? Are you some kind of retard? You know what salt does to electronics?

Oh right, you think it's reasonable to put a paint job you can't afford on a whitetrashmobile. Know how I know you can't afford it? You literally said touching paint on a camaro - not even something nice, but a camaro - justifies shooting people.
>>
>>8844675
>All bikes in the $100 range work extremely well and last for years
Uh, no they don't. Unless you are talking about a used bike that its owner agreed to sell for $100

A bike that retails for $100 (assuming you could even find such a thing) would have parts made out of pot metal and pretty much fall apart just trying to do basic maintenance. Try $450 or so for a new bike that would last for years made out of decent materials.

I think about 1 in 10,000 is, which is enough to be a significant threat to my life, and worth being concerned about, since I ride about 150 miles a week and encounter hundreds if not thousands of cars every day

He admitted to fucking with the dudes car. Cars are an extension of personal space. The car dude took exception to it and maybe overreacted, or maybe not, depends on your perspective, and fucked him up.

They should force you bike twits to go through an education course and get a license so you learn fundamentals like "don't rest your filthy, lice ridden, sweaty arms on other peoples property." You fucks are selfish beyond belief.
>>
When did not owning a car become such a point of pride? Every single thread that involves a bicycle involves 100 posts of springing out. Also I thought the term "cage" was used by motorcyclists and not bicyclists, it's kind of funny imaging all these guys in spandex suits and bicycle helmets screaming about cages.
>>
>>8844779

Lightly touching with his elbow = fucking with? The guy does more damage to his car just sitting his fat ass in it

>When did not owning a car become such a point of pride? Every single thread that involves a bicycle involves 100 posts of springing out.
You realize that's only because cagers see the word "bicycle" and start raving about why people should be murdered for taking up 3 feet of marked bike lane where they're legally not even allowed to drive?

Literally nobody brings up not owning a car in these threads until the cagers start with their nonsense about how bikes are for the poor and owning a gas-powered shitbox is a sign of great personal wealth.
>>
>>8844810

The post that started this argument was someone specifically complaining about the company employees. Some samefag replied to him like 4 times and then the thread long argument happened.

>>8844287
>That's unfortonate. I always hear these stories coming from the UK. You guys do have a shitty cycling culture, from my experience cycling through southern England. Where are the bike lanes? Why did all drivers try and run me over?

theres no cycle lanes because most motorists here are dead against them since it leaves them with less space on the road and might lead to more queues; same for bus lanes
>>
>>8843732

>>
This thread made me hate cyclists.

>>8843748
>>8843442

You get to make your own hours. You get paid decently, sometimes tipped, for an even more basic job than something like waiting tables. And it requires no previous experience. What else are do you feel entitled to? Legitimately curious

So, like, how the fuck does Deliveroo/Foodora/UberEats even make money if they're not employing anyone?

I assume they take a cut of every order, right? And from that would come the pay for the delivery guys, right? But they don't "employ" anyone so how can they pay anyone?
>>
>>8844954
I'm pretty sure the people ordering the service pay through the app and part of that is taken for the service of them sending money through the app. A lot of cash transfer apps do that.
>>
>>8844976
Walk me through it chief.

>I order something with UberEats
>Meal costs $8.99
>Service fee of $2.50
>This fee gets deposited into the bank accounts of UberEats

Now what? How does the money move from Uber to Jimmy Deliveryboy's account without a contract of employment?
>>
>>8845011
I was just taking a guess, but if they said they were taking a portion of the money as a fee for acting as a cash app service then they definitely could within the confines of the law.
>>
>>8845011
Well I just looked it up for some reason and apparently they have a delivery fee from the customer and also take a commission from the restaurant for acting as a delivery service. I don't know how that works in Euro law, but there is probably a good reason delivery boys hate their guts and taxi drivers hate Uber. We could also go into a long discussion about people making use of contracts to get around labor laws but that's probably more appropriate for /pol/.
>>
>>8845094
So in most cases the delivery guy isn't taking any cash on these deliveries, except maybe some tips here and there?

What is the rate by which they are paid? Is it commission based where your cut depends on the price of the meal or is it a flat rate for each meal delivered?
>>
>>8845106
Shit man I don't know google it I guess. I think OP has abandoned the thread after the shitflinging contest so you won't get any answers from him. The websites of each company should have a walkthrough for people looking for work.
>>
>>8845011
I assume it works just like uber. any money is paid to the driver, and the driver has to pay uber some fees for using the service
>>
So how do you keep the food inside from spilling everywhere in your backpacks
>>

It isn't too hard if you restrain it properly. As long as you aren't a mongoloid who can't ride a bike properly.

When did this board turn into fucking /pol/? Go shitpost somewhere. This board has really turned to shit.

As for the people asking how we get payed, basically Deliveroo charges a 2,5 euro delivery fee + a 20-30% commision on the restaurant's food.

I make an hourly wage + bonusses, which gets paid out to me every two weeks by SMART, a non-profit payroll/support company for independent workers, mainly artists and bike messengers like us.

They recieve a portion of Deliveroo's revenue to pay us, I guess.
