what am I in for? are they really unbearably salty?
How do you type question marks with your shift key out of commission?
Anchovies are the best canned fish, but you don't just eat them right out of the can - at least not for your first time trying them.

ON A PIECE OF BREAD PERHAPS?
They taste unbearably salty when eaten by themselves, but they do a great job of adding lots of flavour to tomato sauces (such as puttanesca).
Don't waste those anchovies by eating them by themselves, mix them with something else.

Is it vacation week already?

They're pretty salty, yeah, but as all things "acquired taste" go, after the first few times you have them, it's the kind of salty taste you crave.
They are good on pizza and stuff as a contrast to the aforementioned tomato sauces, but as a pizza topping, they can be overbearing, so experiment with them first.

Food of the Gods...I like to eat them with light rye bread toasted...
