Wash the ever living fuck out of the dandelion if it's anything like the bunch I have.
>>
can u eat the flower part or only the leaves
>>
>>8828702
Fried dandelion blossoms are a thing in Appalachia. (and elsewhere, I imagine)
>>
thread is inspiring me to make more soups, i'm excited to see the finished product
>>
>>8828693
Lurking, interdasted. Keep it coming OP.
>>
>>8828711
No they aren't we don't eat the things at all.
Pretty useless save for decimating your yard.
>>
>>8828720
Maybe you don't.

Chop dandelion & dill
>>
>>8828726
That's gross, I'm not clicking that, even pretending I don't recognize the source.
Too many mites on those things.
>>
>>8828711
I have heard that sauteed yellow blossoms are really good.
I can't for the life of me remember where I heard this.

Once the potatoes are "prickable", add the greens.
Not the dill.
>>
>>8828737
Yeah, I imagine it's similar to zucchini blossoms, which I know to be pretty tasty.

Let the greens sit on top to soften: about 5 minutes.
Do not stir in.
>>
>>8828702
Flowers are bittersweet, leaves are bitter, haven't tried the root
>>
>>8828769
Dried root is good for tea, I know. Earthy taste.
I believe it is a diuretic & a laxative.

Dandelions were originally imported as a food item by English settlers and it became a pest species. Similar to the French and their fucking helix snails.

Also, those aren't mites, they're aphids.

How do people grow into adults without knowing these things?

>appalachians

Oh, right.

Once the leaves are soft & deep green, turn off heat.
Scoop leaves (carefully if you don't want any leaf pieces in the soup), into blender.
>>
>>8828778
Yes, mites do exist.
I have literally never seen an aphid on a dandelion. I don't believe they eat them.

Return to pot & add salt, pepper & fresh dill.
I like a lot of dill, so I used about a handful.
A really lovely spring soup!

This is fucking great. You cook interesting and good food with a seasonal, local, regional twist. I trully tip my hat. You are why /ck/ must continue.
>>
>>8828540
Nice! This looks tasty. Once in a while there are some useful threads on /ck/.
Dandelion is btw good for your liver.
>>
>>8828831
Well, the end product looks quite disappointing.
>>
>>8829205
you bought those???
just go somewhere outside and pluck them
>>
>>8829086
Yup. All the grocery stores where I live carry them, sold in bunches like spinach. The flowers are harder to find, you either have to pick them yourself or show up at the right farmers market at the right time.
>>
>>8830594
nice
now I want some dandelionsalad
>>
Love threads like this on /ck/ where peoples actually cook interesting things
>>
>>8828731
>dandelion & dill
don't like where this is going
>>
>>8832372
why? dill and dandelion seems like an interesting combination
>>
Why didnt OP take the skin off his carrots?
Fucking disgusting.
>>
>no stick blender
Wow poor
>>
>>8833058
>stick blender

It's called an immersion blender you uneducated pleb. You have no room to call anyone else poor.
>>
>>8832971

Not OP, but I don't remove the skin from my home garden grown carrots because I know there were no chemicals used on them.
>>
>>8828860
do you have a penis. This is important.
>>
>>8833089
you always remove the skin, chemicals are not a factor. literal SHIT has touched them so you wash them then peel, then wash again.
>>
>>8833783
why are you shitting in your garden, europoor?
>>
>>8833058
>>8833070
It's called a bermixer.
>>
>>8833783
You're one of those people who also refuses to eat the skin of potatoes, aren't you?
>>
>>8833783
RETARD that is why you wash them
a lot of vitamins are in the skin
plus: who uses shit in their vetetablegarden exept for ome 3rd worlders maybe
>>
>>8833783
Use a light brush and wash them under water, retardo.
>>
>>8833058
>>8833070
>>8833805
It's called a Bamix, made in Switzerland.
>>
>>8835080

>>
>>8828733
Free protein.
>>
>>8835139
>shitty europoor brand
>Switzerland
Do americans really believe this?
>>
>>8836431
>American

LMAO, Euros only knowledge outside of Yurope is USA. But yes, it's an immersion blender. Let me help you with a similar example- Band-aid is a brand name, the product is an Adhesive Bandage. Note the difference Europoor.

Also, Aussie. :)
>>
>>8836865
Savage
>>
>>8835074
all of our ancestors and some of the best farms and gardens
of course I'm not arguing that this is a reason to not eat the skins
>>
Nice change OP. I like the sound of it until blending. I'm not a fan of blended soups
>>
