Anyway OP, yeah, I'd eat naturally deceased people if it came down to it. By any reasonable ethical standard it's more acceptable than eating slaughtered animals, which I do every day right now anyway. But if things got that bad, I do think I'd go veeg rather than trying to find new ways to sate my addiction to meat.

Honestly, cutting out (or at least drastically cutting down on) meat as a society would be a great way to prevent this problem in the first place. But most of us are just not very responsible or good people, myself included.

Not at all. It seems clear to me that in lean times, people hew even more closely to some kind of moral code. It gives them both an explanation for the chaotic misfortune they see around them and rules that make them think they can control it.
