Who wins the battle for the high seas?
Well Nelson outranks Morgan but the Kraken has at least twice as many limbs. Tough call
>>8783474
>spiced rum
Why does this even exist?
Go away now please.
>>8783481
1) tastes good, first and foremost
2) historically, putting expensive spices in things was very fancy indeed
>>8783474
These are all disgusting, but I keep a bottle of the Admiral in my cabinet because it is cheap and occasionally someone might be over that wants a rum and coke or something.
>>8783474
krakens marketing campaign wins
>>8783474
Kraken is better. It's stronger and tastes so sugary you can mix it with less cola. I don't drink rum a lot but I get some white rum and coke when I'm sick of vodka and Gatorade. I don't buy spiced rum often because it's usually 35%.
>>8783681
>I don't buy spiced rum often because it's usually 35%.
Captain Morgan and Admiral Nelson both make 100 proof varieties if that's what you're after.
>>8783474
I didn't really care for Admiral Nelson. Captain Morgan's good once in a while, though the fruity brands are fairly tasty. Of the three, I drink Kraken the most. Strong and with a good flavor, it's the best of the three.
>>8783474
Morgan Private Reserve is the tits. Best rum I've ever had.
>>8783723
Stock, I mean. Private Stock.
>>8783486
THIS MAN GETS IT
If it's not Caribbean made, it's trash.
>>8783474
You are all wrong.
>>8783743
Does he, though?
Appleton Estate tastes watered down and cheap.
>>8783474

For shame, for shame.-

Pick one and only one.
>>8783474
Real rum, coming through.
Spiced fags need not apply.
>drink a half a fith of kraken
>feel like shit 3 days
>never drinking rum again
>only drink bourbon and scotch now
>>8783474
>not drinking Pyrat
Peasant.
Kraken is obvs the hipster/patrician choice, but I personally like Admiral just as much. As much as I've been drinking, I should have told my store to keep it in stock.
>>8784483
Get your gimmicky diageo shit outta here
>NAVY
>STRENGTH
>>8783723
it's better because they use different food coloring
>>8784521
Get on my HMS level.
I really liked pic related for a cheap, rum for mixing. Can't fucking find it anymore though.
>his rum isn't aged in an 18th century naval fortress
My, how gauche~
>>8784521
Back when I was drinking about a half gallon of vodka a day, I shelled out for a bottle of this because it looked good.
Never been so hungover in my life. It was good, but definitely not for binging.
>>8783474
In terms of pure destructive potential Cane Run is the champion. Every time I drink it I destroy either furniture or costly consumer electronics
>>8783800
yes. thats the good shit.
>>8783723
Came here to say this, it's fucking delicious.
havana club
or if I wanna get newfie tier drunk Lamb's/screech
>>8784533
>Get on my HMS level.
That bottle does not look like it holds much liquid in it at all.
el mejor ron es el guajiro, gringo
>>8785516
>That's the special commemorative decanter. Supposedly the shape is good on rocking ship. Makes sense.
I see.
>>8783800
>there are people in this world who have never had sailor jerries with ginger ale
So fucking good
>>8783481
Whores love it.
>>8783924
Don't remember much about this stuff except the vanilla notes and how it was cheap in loo currency. Not really a rum guy, I mainly stuck to Signature whiskeys while I was over there.
>>8786263
You're not hiding your mistakes from me, faggot.
>>8783481
Its been around since before you were itching in your dads panties Anon.
>>8783474
Kraken is the best of the three.
But personally I think Kraken is a little too sweet.
>>8784533
>Pusser's
My compatriot from the African colonies
This is the only one i've ever really had on its own.
My brother once made me a rum and coke with captain morgan but I don't think that's enough to really assess it.
>>8786263
It's cheap in America too and better than stuff like Kraken. It's like my go to "I just wanna get drunk" rum.
>>8784483
Pyrat is objectively shit. Decent orange liqueur sure, but it's not rum.
Is Admiral Nelson's a ripoff of captain Morgan's?
Wow this thread is full of plebs.
My go to rum is Appleton Estates or mount gay
I don't know where you get those weird and inferior rums, but make yourself a favor and try these when you have the chance.
In any of their varieties they are probably better than 90% of what you have posted here.
ZACAPA (Guatemala, voted best rum in the world)
BOTRAN (Guatemala, same makers of Zacapa, also awarded best rum in 2010)
RON ABUELO (Panama)
RON MATUSALEM (Dominican Republic, cheap and good, great for parties)
>>8787868
Matusalem is cuban breh. Don't fall for the dirtbag exile meme, it's just as bad as the fake "romeo y julieta" or "H upmann" made in the wrong countries
Step aside faggots, Ron and root beer is GOAT
>>8783800
can't drink Jerry's anymore because it reminds me of my crazy ex roommate who threw a mug at my head and concussed me
it was her favourite
legitimately hope she dies
>>8783481
cause spices make things taste better.
so you fellers drink rum straight or what?
Not Kraken that's for damn sure
First rum, best rum
>>8785477
How is this in all honesty?
>drinking rum
>whiskey exists
plebs, pls be real men
>>8787418
Only actual good rum ITT, although the pampero is not too terrible
>>8788490
>not considering rum a real man's drink
What are pirates?
>>8788490
Drinkable whiskey is ten times as expensive as drinkable rum. Cheap whiskey is like drinking the essence of burnt tires
>>8788533
haha poor fag
>>8788505
gay diddlers
>>8787418
This was a decent one for me. Haven't seen any El Dorado yet, any fans? Also Flor De Cana isn't bad.
For mixes I usually fall back to early years ie 5,8,12.
I've had the El Dorado 21, and it was pretty good. Next on my list is the 25 YO.
While I've got you guys, anyone into Scotch as well? Every year I try and get my dad a new one he hasn't had (between birthdays, father's day, etc). His go to is Glenfiddich 12. Not a fan of peat, or intense woodyness. Price no object. Any recommendations?
>>8788567
>price no object
Go Japanese. Just remember it's gotten memed to hell so $100 buys you stuff that cost $50 a few years ago.
>>8783800
I don't like spiced rum but I like SJ
I also don't like Dr Pepper but I like Coke and SJ
>>8783800
Top tier
>>8783474
Kraken every time.
>>8788567
Yeah El Dorado is pretty good, Diplomático too, basically my go to inexpensive decent rums for drinking straight.
>>8785666
But there are better things to mix with Ginger Ale like Woodford or Apple Crown
Why has noone posted havana club rum yet? That shit is dope, even comes with a cuba import sticker on it
>>8789036
because someone did, just not the 7
I get this when I cant afford Kraken.
How much of a peasant am I?
>>8783723
Yup, the good stuff. Currently the only rum I'll drink straight.
>>8783474
Kraken hands down.
>>8783474
no sailor jerry or lady bligh
This is the next one I'm getting.
Never tried it but everyone seems to rate it, 75.5% too so it'll do the job.
>>8783800
rAmen, brother.
>>8787418
Totally agree, but this is about nautical-themed rums, not about what's good.

The rule is always, "The higher the rank, the worse the rum."
Sailor Jerry is best bc he's just a dude with a boat, plus all the pinup QTs love his style.
Kraken for tentacle porn fans.
Kraken makes my poop black.

Kraken for sure. Tasty stuff.

>>8786456
sorry mister picky. fine, how about El Dorado 12? that's all I'd drink if I was rich enough
>>8787456
5/10 for getting this reply. Grand Marnier is orange flavored liqueur, not rum...as Pyrat is. The bottles look similar, I understand the easily made mistake.
>>8784521
>>8784533
I want to spread the word of the true best Navy rum.
Any Don Q fans in here?
