Dough nut, its a funny name.

sugar > vanilla > chocolate

Sandwich the sugar between the chocolate and vanilla and eat it all at once.

I don't know why they call them bars, I mean, the most standard one is called a "choclate bar". It's confusing.
It's a "dough-nut" because of it's preparation; it's deep-fried. If it was baked, it would just be a pastry.

Batter is just thinned-out dough. And no, most doughnuts are dough, "dough" some do use batter. Batter is more for when you wanna dip something before frying.

When I make pancakes I call it pancake batter though.
Sounds as bad as the burger is a sandwich conundrum.

It's batter cuz you can pour it. It's all about the liquid-to-flour ratio.
Hmm.. never really think about the def of burgers and sandwiches. I think burgers started out as a type of sandwich, but in modern times, most people go with the buns for burgers and bread/baguettes for sandwiches cuz that's what you think of when you hear "burger" or "sandwich".
Again, I don't actually know, that's just my "feel" of the burger/sandwich situation. I admit I could be wrong.
