Tomorrow morning I'm beginning a gym and lifting for the first time in nearly a decade. I'm not a fatty, just an average guy getting back into it.

What kind of food should I eat tonight for the right kind of energy and nutrition for tomorrow? I don't eat breakfast so this will be my last meal before my workout.

Just keep with the general idea of fueling with all the nutrients you need; I personally go for a plate with a protein, a starch, and a green. Most recent workout meal for me was tofu, mashed potatoes, and raw broccoli, you might want to throw a fruit in there sometimes too.

You will want to start eating breakfast if you want to make gainz. Since you aren't fat you are gonna want more protein and calories in general and eating a healthy breakfast is a great way to achieve that. My main healthy breakfast is either oatmeal or greek yogurt.

I'm looking to trim a few lbs actually, but I'm not fat. 5'11, 180.

I can't eat breakfast (or any food where I don't know about availability of a bathroom) because I have a variant of IBS/Crohn's/Colitis, and it's pretty manageable, but I can't predict when eat something and I'm going to flare up and suddenly desperately need a bathroom. One day I can eat whatever I want, one day lettuce is gonna make me shit my pants in minutes.

Last thing you want me doing is shitting eggs and Greek yogurt under the squat rack because of muh gainz.
