San Marzano are a varietal. That's like asking if Roma tomatoes are a meme.

Tried a few brands.
Canned tomatoes taste like canned tomatoes.
Basically I cannot discern subtle differences between canned San Marzanos and other canned tomatoes. Near my place, non-canned varieties are only sold in a small Italian shop which I'm pretty sure is a mafia base.

Any canned plum tomato tastes like a canned plum tomato. Normal canned tomatoes are not pulpy enough to make a good sauce out of.

I prefer canned sauce to tomatoes because i enjoy being confident in the sodium content of my tomato sauce.

I grew San Marzanos in my garden one year. Made the best fresh sauces. However if you are buying them canned there is not much difference between them and any other canned plum tomato. I will say that OP's pic is a good choice compared to almost every other American brand of canned tomatos.
