If you've never had American chocolate it can be hard to describe but the chocolate covering whoppers has this metallic, sickly aftertaste. The malt in the whoppers is prone to going "bad" and you can find one or two deflated malted whoppers per box, where it tastes like rubber, and the malt hurts your tongue. I can have a pack of Maltesers around the house for a week and it still tastes fresh leave whoppers around for more than a day and they go bad.
