God, one of the biggest life skills I've picked up is the ability to stop drinking when I'm drunk. It's fun being drunk but the "I can't fucking see straight, maybe I should puke now" has never, and will never be enjoyable.

I mean, everyone knows this, but very few people actually stop drinking.

Actually, most people do stop right there. 1-2 drinks, social chatty and good times, okay sober up for drive home, okay off to work and normalcy. If you have the addiction gene? Give it up. Moderation isn't your thing.

alcohol is a real bitch to be legalized. i think by now everyone agrees its much more harmful when abused than marijuana...

hangovers are bad, but withdrawals can actually kill you. if you arent that badly addicted its just so unpleasant many people just keep drinking to avoid withdrawals. thats a miserable existence.

I'm good at this. I always start kinda slow since I hate the taste of alcohol, usually sipping on some rum and cokes or other mixed drinks. After I get into a good place doing that I don't mind alcohol as much so I might drink faster or do some shots and shit. I get really drunk and I'm set, I don't really drink more after that.

I've only ever thrown up one time, when I drank 3/4 of a big bottle of fireball in 45 minutes and went from sober to piss drunk instantly.

I also broke my hand once, but I don't really remember what happened. A girl I was with said I punched a counter top but I feel like I'd remember that.

Yes. But as we learned from prohibition in the US (and the "war on drugs" as well), making it illegal doesn't actually make it go away. It is nearly impossible to enforce a ban on alcohol since it's so easy to make at home. And just as with illegal drugs, a black market is unregulated. All sorts of fake and dangerous additives appear, and so on.

Prohibition is the main reason for the US being so far behind the rest of the western world.

Really? Back in college at parties, that was like my favorite drinking game. I.E.: Drink as much as possible, then sneak outside into the bushes or an alley to take a piss and simultaneously puke like an open fire hydrant, then go drink more until the switch in my brain flips and I do the Irish goodbye.

I don't drink anymore because I'm not in my early 20s anymore and I'm not a fan of moderation. If I'm not getting completely blitzed out of my gourd then it just makes me feel uncomfortable in my own skin like I have the flu.

OK kid, slow down.

Not him, but it is the reason organized crime got such a strong foothold, which just exponentially increased the problems with govt corruption.
Getting rid of prohibition didn't really fix that, they all just moved to vegas.. and then eventually the war on drugs gave them something else to make their money off of.

???
nice non-sequitur, anon.

Dude there is some statistic like only 30% of Americans even drink at all or something. As a long time alcohol the numbers legitimately blew my mind how many people never even have a drink.

Can't see straight need to puke thing stops after your tolerance gets so high.
