Starting with canned garbanzo beans
Sorry for sideways pic: fuck phones
Garbanzos pureed
Adding a few tablespoons tahini & a couple cloves of garlic
Better color now with tahini
Olive oil added through lid while pureeing
Honestly, you can't add too much olive oil
Lots of cumin
Salt to taste
Juice of 1 lemon
yuck
you're supposed to strain and rinse the beans

Welp, these are organic & in BPA free can, so...
Proper consistency & taste has been achieved
This is going into the fridge for snacks, so I will not be making a pretty plate for you, co/ck/s.

So what? The liquid is still totally unneeded. It's a matter of texture. Organic/BPA has nothing to do with it.
3 tins of chick peas
3 tablespoons of tahini (unhulled)
juice of 3-4 lemons
tablespoon of ground chilli powder
handful of jalapenos
salt and olive oil to taste

That's a disturbing amount of cumin
>>8714042
It wasn't even enough! I added about that much again.
Also, this was a double can, so really 2 cans of beans.
>>8714032
Nah, you need the liquid.

welcome to the world of shit-tier flavorless spices.
i use a slow juicer to make hummus
it's the difference between blade and burr ground coffee. delightful
>>8714034
i forgot the garlic, add 2 or 3 cloves to taste
>>8714060
Cumin is definitely not flavorless. Indians eat so much of it that their BO smells like it
>>8714069
shit tier cumin is
>>8714059
aquafaba has egg white properties
in in canned beans it is the worst offender for tasting like a can
definitely does not belong in hummus

I was making a comment about the particular brand (or age) of the cumin being used here.
Cumin SHOULD be strongly flavorful. But most supermarket spices are shit-tier quality that require large amounts to be used. It's also possible that OP had it sitting around for a long time and it lost a lot of it's flavor.
I wasn't saying that ALL cumin was shitty, just the stuff that OP has.
>>8714080
Tell you what: I'll try plain water next time, we'll see how it goes.
>>8714083
OP here.
I buy a little jar of cumin about every 2 weeks, however, I do not grind my own.
This was Trader Joe's, so I dunno where that is on your quality scale.
Damned if I'm gonna go out of my way to buy top tier spices for my kid's after school snack.
>>8714095
I've never shopped at a Joe's so I can't comment on that. But given how much you needed to add in order to get the right flavor it's pretty clear it's shitty.

I like a lot...

DRAIN YOUR FUCKING BEANS YOU IDIOT.
