He's almost literally the Bill Nye of the food world. He teaches not just how to cook, but -why- cooking works how it does, where your food comes from, how to outfit your kitchen in the most practical way for you, he teaches people how to think for themselves, and most importantly he teaches how to keep yourself safe in the kitchen and not wind up serving your fucking fingers as an appetizer, as well as figuring out safer ways to do dangerous shit like peeling mangoes. If he's a meme, then he's a meme to be put on a pedestal and pointed out to other memes as an example of what to be when they grow up.

He's also a personal friend of Adam Savage, and he's down with cosplaying at conventions, if those are worth anything to this conversation.
