Childhood is enjoying the taste of Chedder Cheese. Adulthood is realizing that Parmesean makes more sense.

>children enjoy a sharp nutty cheddar

Lolno.
>>
If you had said blue cheese I might agree with you.
>>
Adulthood is realizing different cheeses suit different circumstances
>>

This.

And realizing that "parmesan" is bullshit fake crap. The real stuff is called parmigiano-reggiano.
>>
>>8694355
cheddar is pretty pungent and I use it as a parmigiano substitute in a pinch. that said, both are awesome cheeses with different uses
>>
>>8694547
>cheddar
>parmigiano substitute
huh, i never made that connection between those two. might as well try it next week to see if it even works that way
>>
>>8694355
I sure do love a good parmesan sandwich just as much as you do OP!
>>
>>8694385
Parmesan is the French name for the cheese and is every bit as protected as the parmigiano-reggie-fils-amie name in the EU.
>>
Cheddar and Parmesan have rather different use cases. I would not substitute one for the other.
>>
>>8694561
It really, really doesn't.

I mean, I love cheddar and parmesan and all kinds of other cheeses; but you can't just substitute one for the other all willy-nilly like that
>>
>>8694606
aged cheddar is really good on top of bakes and in various pasta sauces. not the same as parmigiano but decent enough
>>

Out of curiosity, are you American?

I've noticed that American cheddar is much less flavorful and more accessible to children, while in Europe it's stronger and less children eat it.
>>

In America it's also orange for some reason. Real cheddar is very light yellow.
>>

aged white cheddar for snacking along with salami and granny smith apple

I get it because I too am a middle class north american and thought that Parmesan was just that powdery crap (pic related), but actual Parmesan is still just called Parmesan in many places in north america.
