Have you ever bought a meal for a homeless guy?
>>
no. fuck the homeless.

mostly they're not homeless, they live in rooming houses, collect welfare, and can't supplement their welfare with paper-trail income so they just beg to get cash.

any one of them could easily be a dishwasher or construction site laborer but they won't

I may murder one if I encounter a situation where I can get away with it.
>>
>>8664323

Yes but just the white ones.
>>
No but I buy them entertainment as I throw firecrackers at them as they sleep under the overpass.

It's important to give back.
>>
No, I just buy them drugs instead.
>>
If petrol stations do that 1 bottle of water for $3 or 3 for $4 business I'll get the extras and hand them out to whoever I come across that looks hot or thirsty.

>>
>>8664389
Or maybe you need to go back to >>>/reddit/ permanently. Sorry I work hard and don't feel like giving a free handout to the guy who gets fucked up half the day and panhandles for the rest.

Oh wait, I'm not sorry at all.
>>
No, im borderline homeless myself so fuck them. I've never asked for a handout
>>
>>8664389
Faggots like you are so obnoxious
>>
>>8664323
Yeah. It makes me feel good inside. :)
>>
>>8664379

$3 for one bottle of water? That's insane. You sound nice though.
>>
>>8664323
Yup, several times.
I also keep bottled water, towels, and blankets in my trunk to hand out to homeless people.
However, if they want money, they rarely get it, unless they sit through my lecture about using it to buy good stuff first before buying their smack. ;)
>>
>>8664323

No, I live in Finland and only people who are homeless are that by their own choice.
Benis :D
>>
All they want is beer or cigarettes
>>
I fed homeless cats in Japan once.

Yes.

Sort of?

>Guy outside a wendy's a million fucking years ago begging for money to get something to eat.

>if I was the type of queer cunt to believe in angels and miracles and shit I'd say it was some kind of shit like that, but they probably just fucked my change up becaise I ended up not being charged for the homeless guy's food.
>>
>>8664323
Nah, I don't really do sympathy very well. My brother gave a homeless guy a beer once and he was super excited about it. Makes sense I guess, cut out the middle-man
>>
>>8664440
Even $4 for 3 sounds insane to me.
Here a sixpack of 1.5l bottled water costs $3-$4 without any special "sales".

as a social worker currently employed at what the americans here would call a halfwayhouse/shelter:

>>8664363
bullshit. at least in europe the people living in the streets mostly have some sort of untreated mental disorder and CANNOT live a normal live. plenty of help around but they are just unable to live like we do because that would mnean to accdeept that help and change. substance abuse also plays a big role in this, so does low iq (honestly, look it up)

>>8664442
why?

>>8664450
almost nobody is homeless by choice. most of them have some form of reasoning behind it but i would not call it being homeless by choice

>>8664496
most young homeless actually do work but as they get older their bodies and minds weaken way more due to their living arrangements (and the afforementioned substance abuse). this is why most of the permanent inhabitants of shelters are 50+ years old.

that beeing said: i dont give the homeless anything.
>>
here in Argentina there are good homeless who always give them change whenever I can

>>
Just once - a man asked me to buy him sth to eat, I bought him a loaf of bread, margarine and some luncheon meat. I wasn't earning any money back than, but still had some hard feelings about buying hm shit food. Now I would like to give someone in desperate need couple jars of jam, pickles or tomatoe sauce I've made, some frozen home made food I store in my freezer, butter, good bread, some bottled water, matches and a blanket.

No I can't even afford my own food

Never money.

I used to care about the homeless until weed got legalized here in Seattle and all the dumbasses were like dude free weed and moved here without money or shelter. They're all homeless. Guess what? You need momey for legal weed. Fuck those cunts
>>
The other day some black dude with only a couple of teeth in his mouth, smiled funny at me, while sitting there, begging.
I bought a Mcchicken, opened it and snorted in it.
He looked so happy when I gave it to him.

Yes. I bought a homeless guy Chick-fil-a one time since he sat outside of it on regular basis with his dog.

I offered him the meal and he was a complete cunt about it. Said he, "already gots a bunch today so I just gonna feed it to the dog" in the smarmiest way possible.

I fucking ate that shit in front of him and never broke eye contact.

My college had a 2 for 1 deal for whoppers at the local burger king. There were always homeless guys hanging around. One of them asks me for change so I say "how about I get you a whopper bro" So I go get 2 since one was free and hand it to him, then he says "where's the change?"

fuck the homeless
>>
Nah, I'm genuinely terrified of the homeless
>>
>>8664323
Yeah, once. I made a bunch of money selling weed and I felt guilty about it, so I bought the homeless guy near BK anything he wanted. He also wanted to shine my shoes. I said no, but he insisted. He wanted to feel like he worked for the meal. So I let him, but goddamn it was the most awkward thing.

I once bought a homeless guy some food from walmart and when he thanked me he breathed into my mouth so i had the taste of garbage and cigarettes in the back of my throat for the next quarter hour. From that point onward I've ignored homeless people. I feel like god was telling me not to interact with trash people.

I gave a homeless guy an unopened can of bourbon and cola once but he didn't want it, he just wanted a cigarette but I don't smoke

So I drank the bourbon myself

What an ungrateful cunt

I'm black and me too desu. I've come to realize in the last 10 years of living in a predominately black area that black people suck and I would hate to prolong the life of someone just for him to likely rob or murder someone. So I purposely only help white homeless people unless a non-white guy seems alright (an RARE exception).

>still get street people bothering me (I prefer to call them street people rather than homeless since many of them actually have homes from scamming), salespeople trying to flag me down, psychics trying to sell me their books, rappers hawking their mixtapes, etc.
>worst of all, guy bumps into me on purpose and drops his empty bottle of wine that's in a bag, shattering it... claims that was his only bottle and he needs money for another one

If you put me in charge of quality of life in the city, I would make laws against accosting people in all of these various ways. Shit is unacceptable and probably makes people avoid walking around.

One of the first unwritten rules of polite society is to respect other people's personal space.

Oh, and I forgot the other one-- I shit you not-- I'm sitting at a restaurant after my walk and this father comes in with his two kids. He loudly proclaims, "my children need your donations for the basketball blah blah blah", just blatantly doing a scam involving his kids rather than, you know, getting a real fucking job and leaving everybody else the fuck alone.
>>
Nothing like proof that most anons are trash people.

Yes, I do. If I have a pack of smokes I'll give em one too. Never money, only food. As a loony who had to deal with that shit myself, I know what it's like to be on the short end of that stick. I'll also hand out seeds and explain that food will indeed grow from the blighted soil that enrobes most cities.

Sure. I live in NYC so plenty of homeless people beg outside of dollar pizza slice places, so I'd say I throw a slice at em about 1/3 of the time.

Also I give some money every year to my local shelter around winter because it's lethal to be homeless in the cold. I assume some of that goes to food.

Be a little less obvious next time.

Yes, more often when I went to school downtown, there were /multiple/ homeless people around the campus, one of them would want the sandwich I've brought.

I avoid giving homeless people cash - because drugs addiction is a huge problem. I don't have a drug addiction problem, I ended up in the homeless shelter a few years ago (got out now) and the shelter had a lot of drug addicts who were not visibly drug addicts - usually by the time a drug addict is middle-aged, it shows, but when they are young, especially when they are white, they can hide it pretty well. I didn't know the late Brooklyn McNeil well, but I knew her, she was composed, well-mannered, and never got involved in any drama - I was shocked to learn that the cause of her death was drug overdose. Later I would read about how her first encounter with addictive drugs was a legal one - she was given painkillers at the hospital - this is a story that has repeated across Ontario.

A week ago I saw this very young man with a sign outside of Tim Hortons, he looked rather hungry, so I gave him my Tim Card and we started to chat - he's at Seaton House - it's a shelter of last resort, he's probably a drug addict. Do NOT give these people cash, they can't help it, give them food, talk to them, and listen - but ONLY if it doesn't put your safety at risk.

There are a lot of homeless vets on the streets, and those are the ones who appreciate both a meal and having someone sit down and talk to them the most, breaking bread with someone helps with their mental health, but again, put your personal safety first - there are a lot of homeless vets because their PTSD makes it hard to to keep job and housing. Some of them would say some racist, sexist, or even truly insane thing - but be respectful and don't correct them, they are in a terrible place, just steer them towards getting into contact with a social worker (unless they already have one).
>>
>>8665773
>I'll also hand out seeds and explain that food will indeed grow from the blighted soil that enrobes most cities.

You really think a heroin addict begging for money is going to take the time and care to plant your seed in a vacant lot and tenderly care for it so in 6 months he can skip one day of begging for food on the sidewalk and eat a fresh cucumber? Shut the fuck up

Holy shit go fuck yourself.

>had to deal with these cockroaches every day

Good analysis of the rights position in regard to jesus. That bastard refused to support open carry, and universal healthcare, afterall.

If jesus sat on the sidewalk outside an italian restaurant and begged for my leftovers I'd tell him to fuck off too

Would you give someone a PC lecture when they are homeless?

Humans are tribalistic and we exercise pattern recognition, and we fail to make individual extinction especially when we are stressed. I'm not going to get on someone's case about using the term 'raghead' when he's been shot at by them. I'm not going to call someone out for being a sexist when they've been abandoned by their wife - she probably has a good reason, but when I'm talking to HIM, who is on the street, I'll nod sympathically - even though I myself am a woman. I'm also Asian, and I'm not going to call someone out for ranting about immigrant stealing jobs or driving up rent - WHEN THEY ARE HOMELESS.

I think my values are liberal over all, but I really don't like how exclusionary and past-blind the left sometimes is, like when Seth Meyers (or Colbert) said that Jeff Sessions couldn't have possible gotten LESS racist, because old age doesn't make someone less racist. But um, Obama used to be against gay marriage, Obama changed with time, so could Jeff Sessions.

I think we shouldn't exclude or attack someone just because they are homophobic, sexist, or racist - surely call them out on it when they are doing it (but not when they are in a vulnerable place) but only by including them and especially showing them by example that their beliefs are wrong can we actually change their mind, otherwise we remain The Enemy.
>>
>>8666177
individual distinction, sorry for the typo.

PS: I used to be against gay marriage even though I was queer myself - I thought the change was too great, and that Canada should have moved for civil union first, but I'm glad I was proven wrong.
>>
>>8666177
Uhh excuse you, don't you know that a racist is literally the worst thing you can possibly be and anyone who says anything even mildly racist deserves only death
>>
>>8666177
Nah, I'm just saying that military humor is very to the point. PC faggots such as maybe yourself would call it racist/sexist/homophobic/whatever, but it's more true observations, tribal though they may be. Not that it isn't correct, in a general sense, either.

His name was Anthony Z and I still miss him and wonder how he's doing. It was a crazy time in my life and I was on drugs. Specifically xanax, nitrous oxide (whippits, like 100s a day), and synthetic weed, back when it was unregulated and sold in gas stations. I was up for anything and got myself into a lot of crazy shit. It was self destructive, but I have no ragrets.

I was also living in an empty mansion in midtown/montrose area. My uncle is a millionaire and he and his wife divorced. I lived there while they both moved out and I helped prepare the house for sale and kept an eye on things. Waiting tables and selling automotive paint and supplies (that my friend stole from the Sherwin Williams he worked at) out of the back of my Dodge Durango to random auto body shops were my two forms of income.

Hanging with Anthony was nuts. Saw a lot of shitty, nasty ghetto shit but got a weird thrill out of it, being so far out of my element, flirting with danger. It's hard to explain. It was only 6 or 7 years ago but I feel like I've come a long way since then. I work in finance for a school district now

Care to spare an anecdote?

Also whippets? Got some on a whim and a bicycle pump (kinda shitty) to put in balloons, but did it twice and seemed more pointless than just drinking a beer.

>I'm a leftist so you must be on the right

I'm a leftist too, that doesn't mean I think you should enable or nurture addicts/thieves
even feeding them donuts just prolongs their run, if you catch someone they won't hit rock bottom. Let them contribute to society if they want to benefit from it

We would often buy a mess of crack and cruise around and visit various acquaintes of his, many of whom were people he owed a crack smoke out, and we would go into their "homes" or apartments. Smoking with babies or toddlers in the room watching you. Or worse, smoking crack and the mom passes the pipe to her 14 year old son. A mom once offered her underage daughter to me for sex in exchange for drugs or money. Not even a lot of money. Like $20. And no, I didn't do it.

We had a lot of good times and a lot of laughs though. Used to but 40s from the one gas station that would sell them after hours, at like 3 or 4 am

You should of fucked her

>>8666354
If she was white or latina I just might have. I just don't like darkies. I'm not particularly attracted to children either
>>
>>8666284
Whippets are much different if you do a bunch of them back to back. Using a metal whip cream canister is the best way. They're also 100x better when you're on other drugs, especially xanax
>>
>>8666383
Ah, well although I haven't tried more than one canister at a time, I will agree that everything's better on xanax.

Hell, my brother and I used to have class on Wednesdays, do a little benzo before and during, and after the class go to Chili's. God we loved Chili's, so much that we went almost every week getting the great potato soup and an egg n' bacon burger (the happy hour drinks helped too). But when we ran out of a Benzo connect, we went there and found it lackluster.

Guess it was all the bezno...
>>
>>8666393
Yeah benzos kinda put rose colored glasses on everything, and can blind you to how bad your may be fucking your life up. They were fun for that time in my life but I was lucky to be able to cut it out eventually. Your connect falling out was probably a blessing in the skies
>>
Yeah. I thought we were gonna sit down and have a meal together but the fucker ran off as soon as he had the food without even saying thanks. I felt like a fucking idiot. It didn't help that the manager of the Popeyes tried to kick him out of the line for "causing trouble again" but he used me as a human shield and said I had money.

That's the last time I ever helped the homeless. They're all scumbags. I especially hate the ones who hang out near ATM machines, like I'm going to make a withdrawal just for them.
>>
>>8666416
Probs, if only it were the same for the ope connect, white connect, or the liquor store...

I pay taxes, so, unfortunately, lots of them

People 're entitled to drop out. To have to ask for handouts sucks. As someone whose been on that end, I try to provide the ability to grow your own. I know it was a stranger who got me out of it, and taught me how to make dirt into food. I try to do the same

Duh and/or hola.

However, that's what took ME off the street and so I provide what got me out to those who I can provide to. Its spring God dammit and might as well make the world glisten with food.

The ones who say they'd murder a homeless person if they could get away with it sometimes do. Sometimes they think they can get away with it but they don't.
