Depends on what you're cooking.
For a bbq, definitely charcoal.
Gas doesn't add that smoky bbq flavor, and with wood it's harder to get a nice even heat than with charcoal.

Charcoal generally. I like getting the fire going. Also, food generally tastes better.
Wood is okay if I was smoking something in a smoker or cooking over a camp fire for some reason.
Gas if fine for convenience and if you want to show off your expensive patio grill setup.
Mesquite
I cook with mesquite, make my meat taste of wood.
