I missed normal drip after having a keurig for so long. I really can distinguish between the two, and drip is much better.

Now my espresso machine is my current go to.

I guess it's fine if your taste buds are completely fucked and you can't taste the difference between diner coffee and the sour mildew water at the bottom of your sink's U pipe.
This shit boils water and dumps it indiscriminately on the grounds, not allowing it to brew properly. You get rapid burnt extraction.

Also you have to clean it regularly or it will literally grow mold.

You're better off with a french press if you're not making coffee for others.
The single most noticeable upgrade in coffee is lowering your brewing temperature so you don't burn your storebought ground walmart swill.

I never mentioned brand.
The second most noticeable upgrade in coffee is grinding whole bean coffee right before brewing.

Ground coffee has exponentially more surface area to oxidize and will lose all of it's aroma and start to taste acidic and gross.
This is especially true in those giant 3lb ground coffee tubs that you see in grocery stores.
Regardless of how you feel about branded coffees, don't buy coffee unless it's whole bean and comes it a sealed container to delay the effects of oxidation.

My Mr. Coffee only grew mold one time, and that's because I forgot to throw away the filter with the old coffee grounds on it and it sat there for a week.

In my building the water taste so bad that I cannot drink it whitout filter it first, so no filtered water for coffee is a no no.

I have a french press, and a expresso machine at home, and a mister coffee in the office, and is just alright coffe, but certainly not great.
