There is literally nothing wrong with chicken tartare
>>

>raw beef
Tartare.
>raw pork
The fuck do you know, I've been eating raw bacon since I was a child. Worms are almost nonexistent in this day and age, and I also buy smoked bacon, as it's been smoked and is thus not completely raw.
>raw chicken
If nothing else, the taste and texture are just gross. Hilarious coming from someone that likes raw bacon though, right?
>>
raw fish tastes good raw
>>
>>8628401
Fish eaten raw as in sashimi is served freshly killed or flash-frozen to prevent bacterial contamination

You can eat raw chicken and beef provided they're fresh and not something you bought from the supermarket, both raw beef and chicken are thinly sliced and served as sashimi

Pork isn't usually eaten without some form of curing because it's traditionally more susceptible to zoonotic parasites like trichnella and many countries have laws against serving it raw. .

salmonella

>>8628416

If salmonella tastes """good""" to you. I'll stick to my chicken tenders thanks.

>>8628532
If it's frozen it was never fresh to begin with, yuck. You can't eat either unless you want mad cow disease, salmonella, trichnosis, or other parasites and diseases. What kind of subhuman doesn't take advantage of fire? The most basic human innovation.
>>
>>8628579
Everything else aside (because I don't have a major complaint with it), prions are not killed by cooking. They're proteins. You would need to incinerate a food to kill prions.
>>
The ocean is constantly moving and self filtering.

The Earth is kind of just a big pile of shit.

Also, who the fuck doesn't eat raw beef?
>>
Please correct me if im wrong, but doesn't the salmonella bacteria only live in the gastrointestinal tract and cooking the outside kills all bacteria. So the risk of getting salmonella poisoning by undercooked chicken should be quite low.
>>
>>8629226
Wouldn't the heat denaturate them and make them lose their function/effect?
>>
>>8629311
No. The function of proteins is to...protein, and prions are just slightly different proteins. Anything that would not destroy a normal protein will not destroy a prion.
>>
>>8629400

I honestly don't understand why chicken is so dirty
>>
>>8629400
Hope this is bait but heating a protein denatures it and deactivates any sort of function it has other than exisiting. You'd still eat the prion but it will have no effect.

>Prions can be destroyed through incineration providing the incinerator can maintain a temperature of 900 F for four hours. In an autoclave, prions can be deactivated by using a temperature of 270 F at 21 psi for 90 minutes. If the infectious material is in a solution of sodium hydroxide, deactivation will occur after one hour at 250 F and 21 psi.

>Please correct me if im wrong, but doesn't the salmonella bacteria only live in the gastrointestinal tract and cooking the outside kills all bacteria.
You're wrong. That's their preferred environment, but they can live for weeks outside a body. That's why salmonella risk from eggs is a thing, for example. And while most infections are from salmonella on the shell, one in 20,000 or so are infected inside the egg. (I think that was US stats...google if you want to know more).
>>
>>8628401
All carry various risks, and ways of mitigating them, but one obvious difference is that poultry, swine, and cattle are warmblooded, so bacteria harbored by their corpses are adapted to a similar body temperature to humans, and are more likely to survive and cause illness in humans as well.

2) Insulation.

>>
>>8633930
>Not him but
Okay Captain Reddit.

>1) Water isn't freezing temperature
Ice is you fucking idiot. Water in its liquid state is a loose wet form but when it gets sub-0 Celsius or sub-32F it freezes into a solider form (ice)>

>2) Insulation
Fish move around to much to live in one place retard and most fish dwellings aren't insulation

If you cut a fish open it'd be warm not cold to the touch. Fucking idiot wanna be "scientists..."
>>
>>8633953
>ice is
Ice is not water.

I'm talking about the insulation they have on their body.

You can meme all you want because you're embarrassed, but fish are cold-blooded save one species (to the extent of our scientific knowledge).

If ice melts what does it turn into you fucking retard?

And FYI WARM-BLOODED AQUATIC MAMMALS aren't cold-blooded either you fucking moron. Whales, dolphins, porpoises, manatees, seals, sea lions, walruses, etc. all not cold-blooded.
>>
>>8633971
>If ice melts what does it turn into you fucking retard?

Exactly. It was Ice. Then if you melt it it becomes water. But ice itself is not water. It's ice. And likewise if you boil water it becomes steam. Ice, steam, and water are three different things. Ice is a solid. Steam is a gas. Water is a liquid.
>>
>>8633983
Wow you sure did pass fucking kindergarten science today. I hope you go chug some bleach to properly award your dumb ass parents (whom'st I hope have cancer)
>>
>>8633971
The definition of water demands it to be liquid. The definition of ice demands it to be frozen. Ice is not water. Gas is not liquid and liquid is not solid. If you're going to appeal to science, you should understand states of matter.

>And FYI WARM-BLOODED AQUATIC MAMMALS aren't cold-blooded either you fucking moron. Whales, dolphins, porpoises, manatees, seals, sea lions, walruses, etc. all not cold-blooded.
I agree. But fish are not mammals so that is irrelevant.

You should stop replying, you're just making yourself look even stupider.

Cured meat isn't raw. Nobody considers cold-smoked salmon to be 'raw'. Ceviche isn't raw.
>>
>>8634375
Then by that logic neither is tartare which is usually smoke blended (flash fried to you noobs). The thing is that my bacon IS raw. I get it smoked from a buddy of mine but the smoke cure doesn't make heat just cus it comes from the heat. I have a water cooled billow I use to heatlessly smoke my meats.

>>
>>8629845

Prions are a problem because they form very resilient chains of misfolded protein that can fragment and recruit other proteins into them. Prion diseases like CJD affect brain proteins; the chains destroy your brain cells and turn the brain into Swiss cheese. Heat denaturing is not only more difficult to do to prions, they can also refold. Heat doesn't permanently denature most proteins, and the only way to be sure they're gone is to torch every last molecule. Even a few prion molecules will be able to start the disease on a new person, so there's not a lot of room for error.

My fire box is separated from my meat chamber by a pipe (pic related). The smoke travels through the pipe and cools before reaching the meat chamber. I've placed an instant read thermometer in the meat chamber and the temperature does not exceed ambient air temperature. In fact when cold smoking salmon, you want to make sure the temp doesn't exceed 70F and since I usually do that in July when I can get fresh wildcaught sockeye and ambient temperature can be over 90F, I put a tray of ice in the meat chamber to keep it cool.

Prions

>Prions are simply proteins, not living organisms, and they can survive almost anything, even hundreds of degrees of heat.

If your food has prions in it you're fucked.
>>
>>8638747
>How about if you wanted to actually kill the harmful bacteria
Why would there be harmful bacteria on a piece of meat intended for consumption, anon? If your food is so trash that you have to sterilize it before consumption - perhaps, you know, stop buying trash. We in the rest of the world can make mayonnaise with unpasteurised egg, eat unpasteurised cheese, dried sausages and charcuteries, rare meats and even ground beef all day long and not get """salmunelluh""".

Just saying.

His post implied neither of those things. Stop shitposting because you said something stupid and got called out on it.

Prions are not alive and prions do not get killed in cooking temperatures. These are facts, throwing a loud hissy fit ad shitposting loudly will not change your status from BTFO.
>>
>>8638784
>Why would there be harmful bacteria on a piece of meat intended for consumption, anon

Because there is harmful bacteria literally everywhere. Your skin is covered in it. So is every object around you. Unless you're talking about surgical instruments that just came out of an autoclave or the interior of a blast furnace, it contains potentally harmful pathogens.

People can and do eat "risky" foods all the time. They do contain harmful bacteria, just not in enough quantity to matter.
>>

>>

Objectively wrong. Prions are misfolded proteins that animals make. Your bones aren't "alive" but incineratering them will destroy them completely. I'm a arts major but even I know that.

>ad
I think you meant and* sweetie oh but keep loudly shitposting and namecalling it definitely makes your argument legit (sarcasm) *rolls eyes*

If you live in a toilet maybe but if I were to test my meats for bacteria they'd have zero on them because meat is suppposed to be clean when you buy it.
>>
>>8638847

I never said anything about being afraid of them, I simply said that the bacteria are present.

Of course you don't (usually) get sick when you lick your skin, that's what your immune system is for. You only get sick when you are exposed to a large amount of bacteria AND your immune system fails to fight them off.
>>
>>8638852
>they'd have zero on them because meat is suppposed to be clean when you buy it.

You are out of touch with reality. Nothing in this world outside of a literal autoclave is sterile. Literally nothing. Bacteria are all around us, on everything. We don't get sick because of our immune system.
>>
>>8638852
>Objectively wrong
Just because animals make protein doesn't make them alive. Prions are not alive.I repeat: Prions are not a form of life, much like viruses.

>As for prions, prions are not at all considered alive.

>incineratering them will destroy them completely
Incinerating is not cooking temperatures.

You're a fucking idiot dude. Go rub your nasty ass hands in a dumpster and lick them all day long but leave civilized, healthy people out of it. Eh, I see the great American Education System is out in full force again. Please reeducate yourself. There are not only ood bacteria, but there are essential bacteria. Speaking about prions, aren't they close to non-existent by now ? I thought they were only present in animal spinal cord, brain and shit like that.
>>
>>8642481
Well MCD is considered one of the rarest diseases on the planet so that's gone. There's some concerns in wild game, deers and bears etc, as prions have been going up in their population but it's still such an infinitesimal amount.

As long as prions continue to stay in the nervous system the risk from them should be gone.
>>
>>8636035
I agree with this, actually.

I don't like cooked salmon at all, but I enjoy salmon sashimi. I don't like most cooked fish I find and the fish I do like is usually served fried or blended with so many other things that I can't taste it at all. But I've liked just about every raw fish I've eaten. I've never thought about this before.

I do like non-fish sea creatures, though, like scallops and crustaceans and eel and whatnot.

Because people feel land animals are dirtier than sealife.

Land animals live next to humans so we have this subconscious awareness that those land animals will be in contact with pesticides and other shit.

Also, the fact some human diseases originated from land animals and not sea life.

I have never heard of a fish giving something like "Fishpox" to Humans.

That is why we think raw fish is much more tolerable to eat than raw land animals.

Also, the childish imagination that the Ocean is one Big Brine so we kinda think the Fish are already being Cured.

Not only that but I guess it is easier to sterilize fresh fish so later you can eat it raw.

No one flash freezes entire cow bodies like how they flash freeze freshly caught fish bodies in massive quantities.

So yeah, just my thoughts on this. I'm no expert.

Sushi/sashimi grade stuff usually goes through a flash-freezing process that kills the parasites. The other things you listed aren't usually eaten raw because they are associated more with other contaminations like bacteria, but they probably could be eaten raw if prepared properly.
>>
>Explain this /ck/.
Different animals have different diseases, some of which our immune systems can handle, some of which it cannot. Each needs different amounts of cooking to make safe to eat.
>>
>>8647555
^This.
Also, the prep has a lot to do with it. Do you know that most countries don't refrigerate eggs because of how they're prepared?
>>
>>8647579
The only thing you prep is your wife's bull.
>>
>>8647579
It's because of how we prepare them that makes it so we have to refrigerate them. We wash them in soap and water just in case they have muh salmonella and this strips a protective barrier the egg naturally has that would keep bacteria out. So what did lovely America decide to? Spray it with oil and refrigerate them. Why we can't just wash our own eggs at home baffles me.

Also Europe vaccinates egg-laying hens which US would never do because muh profits.

Nobody said the room is 70 degrees. Apart from warm and cold being subjective, temperature isn't an inherent property of ectotherm blood any more than it is of water.

I assume you don't live in America. In America our chickens wallow in their filth (literally) so this isn't a wise decision.

A nice farm chicken/cow/pig would probably be safe to eat raw if you had/wanted to.

Keep in mind there is "raw fish" and there is "sushi quality" raw fish. Consider American animals as "not sushi quality". I have a friend who lived in Japan for awhile and raw chicken was normal and acceptable there too. Not here unless it is fresh off some farm. Probably a certified organic farm at that.
