I want to minimize my sodium intake as much as possible.
advice?
>>8617603
use less/no salt
Eat less sodium
no fast food
no canned foods
no frozen microwave meals
there, you avoided 90% of your sodium intake
>>8617603
eat ore salt
>>8617603
Cook your own food and don't add salt, simple.
Be careful with asian sauces which are loaded with sodium.
>>8617623
buy things with less/no salt in them
>buying "pasta sauce"
revolting
>>8617648
if I put salt into pasta water does the pasta absorb the sodium?
what's a good way to get fats I need without sodium? nuts right
>>8617654
muh minimalism.
i don't even bother dirtying a pan for it. just plop it on a plate and microwave on low setting
>>8617668
>>8617658
Yes, it does -- that's why you salt pasta water in the first place. Is MSG a potential alternative for you? Also, potassium salt.
Finally, keep in mind if you significantly up your water consumption, salt becomes less of an issue.
drink more water
>>8617681
I thought you salted pasta water so the pastaa doesn't stick together
>>8617603
buy this bread from whole foods frozen and then just defrost a slice or 2 as needed
also their raisin bread has 65mg which is about half of other brands
get that francesco ranaldi no salt added pasta sauce
buy no salt added tomatoes and canned veggies for cooking
most frozen veggies don't have salt but some do
some veggies like carrots have salt in them naturaly so beware also all meats have salt too and eggs do as well
trader joes has unsalted peanut butter and tortilla chips & reg tortillas without salt
use msg for cooking when you must because it uses much less sodium and gives good flavor. I used a tsp for this gravy I made with chicken and it came out amazing
I get these 2$ cans of "very low sodium" tuna from big Y
buy no salt seasoing blends
the low sodium diet is hard because you're very limited to what you can buy and already used to consuming tons of it unless you're already a plant eater who doesn't use sauces or anything
>>8617825
forgot pic
>>8617842
no prob
also target has unsalted pretzels which still contain some salt in the dough and trader joes has a huge variety of unsalted nuts
a nice low sodium meal I've made which can be portioned out to last however long you're comfortable with eating follows
no salt added tomatoes, mushrooms, chicken breast, garlic powder into a foil pouch for cooking
when finished mix in some frozen peas or no salt added canned ones and then serve over preferred rice (trader joes makes this veggie blend one which has almost no sodium)
if I use onions in that one I cook the chicken breast separate because the onions seem to take way longer to get soft compared to chicken and don't want to over cook
also stretch out your meat with lots of veggies and rice so you don't consume as much sodium per meal
>>8617842
here is a really good website I found after starting low sodium which is prolly the best ive seen so far
http://thedailydish.us/recipe-index/
Fuck salt.
>>8617603
I have a problem with this too. I don't intentionally put salt on my fish/chicken every day, but I do put seasoning on them everyday. Even though I always look for low sodium/no sodium seasonings, it's hard to find a lot of those nowadays.
I love salt. Fuck you.
>>8617603
If you're cooking, try using no-salt seasonings. Also, to give food a little extra kick, try using some sort of acid like lemon juice or vinegar. You can probably wean yourself off of salt by doing that.
>>8617603
>any advice
Kill you're self you skinny piece of shit. Why in the fuck would you want to eat less salt? Salt tastes good, salt all-American; do you hate America or something? If you stop eating salt, what's next; are you going to stop eating sugar too? No HFCS, crashing the corn economy we worked so hard to build? Stop drinking milk? Eat less meat? Or god forbid, going... vegan?
Yeah, thats what your kind does once they decide their better than Average Joe and get elitist about eating healthier. Then you become so hipster nu-male cuck, a pedophile and ultimately a freedom hating terrorist.
Either eat like the rest of us or go to North Korea if you don't like it, you fucking faggot.

>being an iodine addict
Help society by removing yourself from existence
>>8617603
make absolutely everything from scratch and don't salt any of it. it's the only way.
>>8618164
Damn dude, this isn't even funny
>>8617739
the salt is for flavor, nothing else
>>8617623
doesn't sound like you're having much salt anyway
>>8617603
Don't eat anything that doesn't rot at room temperature.
>>8618203
how much sodium does the pasta absorb?
>>8618289
ass doesn't rot at room temperature, you telling me to give up my favorite meal?
>>8618296
You're not very smart, are you? I've always wondered what it's like to be a stupid person, could you share your experiences?
>>8617658
How much god damn salt are you putting in your pasta anyway that would concern you about your sodium intake?
>>8618158
forgot to add that I love using vinegar on things like cabbage, broccoli\, spinach
>>8617623
You must be fun at parties
>>8617609
>no salt
>>8618657
no salt definitely reduces sodium intake
>>8618667
It also makes your food taste like shit and will fuck up your chemistry. Salt is absolutely necessary in the human diet, stop falling for USDA dictating whats healthy when they have a proven record of failure.
>>8618685
You do realize there are foods out there with salt already in it, right? OP asked how to reduce sodium, using no salt does that. You don't have to add salt to everything when there are plenty of foods with salt already in them.
>>8617623
I hope that pasta sauce comes with a shitload of meat because you're getting almost 0 protons.
>>8618697
protons?
>>8618685
obviously OP has issues with high blood pressure...
Cook all of your meals from scratch, don't use salt.
Or just visit a health store like GNC and buy a bottle of Salt B' Gone. It'll dissolve all of the sodium in your food.
>>8618701
/fit/ talk for protein
>>8617623
I'd be worried about your protein intake. But unless you are adding salt your current salt intake is fine already.
>>8617623
this is the guy who posts water in soda threads
>>8618707
This, if he has too much salt he needs to stop eating garbage food and cook for himself WITH salt.
Also good luck getting enough iodine without salt. There are only a handful of produce with substantial amounts and none of them are eaten regularly enough.
>>8617912
salt free mrs dash is based. I have had four of their spice blends and all are great.
>>8618685
nigga, I'm on dialysis. fuck you, faggot
>>8618685
Fucking retard

>>8618697
best options for protein for vegan diet?
>>8618802

>>8618685
>Shilling for the Salt Council on a Romanian jet-skiing forum.
>>8618721
so far I've had the lemon pepper, table blend, and just got the spicy one
>>8617623
I have no clue why but this routine really activates my almonds.
This is your new best friend OP.
>>8621809
Do I even want to know what types of ultracancer flavor enhancers are in this?
>>8622059
Its pure msg. All the recent studies have shown that the headache myth was mostly just racism directed at the Chinese restaurants that were starting to become popular and more plentiful
>>8618802
Add some nuts or seeds to your oatmeal, have some hummus or peanut butter with your lunch, and cook some beans in your tomato sauce for dinner, pasta is optional.
>>8618814
Is a good list, I find the most versatile bean to be chickpea (hummus, tomato soup, chickpea curry) but you might have a different favorite. Peanut butter also has a lot of protein but is supposedly not as good for you as other nut butters. Raw nuts are a great snack too.
Any particular reason you want less salt?
