Coldpressed rape oil can actually taste pretty good. It is distinctive, yeah, I wouldn't exactly use it in a dressing, but I love to cook with it.

Canola oil is rapeseed oil using cultivars specifically bred to contain less Erucic acid. Erucic acid is toxic in high enough doses, but regular rape doesn't have enough to approach a harmful effect, so you really have to wonder why they bothered.

yes, it's neutral as hell and affordable and thus why all those Micheline'd starred restaurants use it. Thomas Keller prefers grapeseed, but it is cost prohibitive for restaurants.
