why are vegetarians obsessed with making meat substitutes out of veggies ?

I only eat veggie burgers or veggie dogs if I'm being served them by a relative or if I'm out at a restaurant and it's my only option.

Oh, yeah and 99% of junk food is vegetarian and meat is not bad for you. I freely admit this.

Impressed senpai why aren't there more of you. I assume the making meat substitutes thing is mostly for those diet of the month people. My dads wife always has some new vegetarian substitute that she tries to shill to people whenever we get together for thanksgiving or christmas. Tried to do a tofu turkey once. God what a monster that thing was.

Even if your intent to foster discussion is genuine the question is too "bait-y". It's asking more for a feud than a genuine answer to anything.

But I think even if one eats meat he should eat tofu too because it is inexpensive, nutritious and can be made to be very tasty. You don't have to stop eating meat to enjoy tofu.
