Probably not on here, but people that don't know better and have never tried an actual truffle eat that shit up. It completely has to do with the connotation of haute and wealth. Because if you have an okay palate, you can tell that it tastes like pure gasoline and overpowers everything. Basic gastropubs or whatever in flyover states or suburbs near urban areas are throwing it on everything especially fries.
Wait, aren't truffles basically mushrooms? I hate mushrooms.

>that it tastes like pure gasoline
it smells like it, too.
>truffle oil
>ingredients: oil, truffle flavoring
Hate the shit. Hated it when I worked on a restaurant where all we put it in were the fries. I could smell that shit go up in the window when I was back in dish.
Now I work in a place where we put it in our risotto. Makes the riso go to shit as soon as it's added. I always take a bite thinking it's going to be good but feel like spitting it out after.
Fuck truffle oil
>not making your own truffle oil which is so potent it flavors easily a liter per drop

>Truffle oil when finishing salt is arguably superior
>Thinks it's truffles instead of a single chemical compound that's been recreated in a food lab
It's still nice and elevates various dishes when used appropriately.

Why don't you let your head chef know it's awful? He/she should know better than that.
truffle oil plus mayonnaise is god-tier
