I have a fancy bottle of Absinthe I got as a bday present a few years ago. I cant seem to get the serving right.

Anytime I add cold water to it, it taste too diluted. Its supposed to be 3:1 right?

One method is to pour it over a sugar cube, set the cube on fire, let it caramelize, and melt into the glass, and then add cold water. But the cold water makes it nearly impossible for the sugar to mix into the drink.

I've been drinking it straight up because of that.

What am I doing wrong?
