Anyone else have a rainy day? I tried out an imitation chick fil a recipe and it turned out even better than the actual thing.
Comfort food thread, I guess.

Just made chicken fried rice with honey walnut shrimp.

Looks pretty good but your shells need some pepper.

Looks good. I might fry up sardines and make a toasted sardine sandwich. Any tips?
I've never had chick fil a, but if that's better than the real thing I guess I haven't been missing anything.
2 Pounds Chicken Breast Meat
Brine:
½ Quarts Water
½ Quarts Dill Pickle Juice
¼ Cups Salt
¼ Cups Sugar
Breading:
1½ Cups All Purpose Flour
1 tablespoon salt
2 Tablespoons Black Pepper
2 Teaspoons Paprika
1 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
2 tsp garlic powder
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Dredge:
2 Large Eggs
1 Cup Milk
Prep your brine by mixing pickle juice, water, salt, and sugar together in a large ziploc bag. Stir it around a bit.
Cut chicken into 1 inch cubes. add to the marinade, get all the air out of the bag seal it off and put it in the fridge for at least an hour.
After an hour, drain all the juice out of the bag (you can just cut a small corner off the bottom and let it drain out into the sink).
Whisk 2 eggs and a cup of milk in a large bowl, add the chicken, stir it around, and let it sit for 15 minutes.
Start taking the chicken out a few pieces at a time, letting most of the milk/egg drain off and dredging it in the flour mix.
Fry in about 1/2 inch of oil at 400 F, turning once after 2 or 3 minutes. I ould recommend using peanut oil if you want it to taste like chick fil a, but canola is fine too
Place on a stack of paper towels to soak up the extra grease

those are some pretty dank looking sea nuggers m8

Also, I didnt bother adding the water to the marinade and I ran out of flour partway through (using 4 breasts), so you might want to increase the dredge by half a proportion.

diced onion and some lemon juice wouldnt hurt

they're in olive oil. should I rinse them and use fresh oil?
>>8589116
You can if you want but that oil they come in is great, I would use it as a salad dressing or just pour some onto the sandwich
I will also use this thread to plug this gigantic wad of turmeric that I harvested a week ago. I did not expect it to be this much and I have no idea what to do with all of it.
Does anybody know what I can do with a gigantic mound of turmeric? I was thinking about slicing it up and pickling it
