So I have been experimenting with donburi and want to branch out into more refined japanese cooking. Is pic related a good book to start with?
Also what's a good donburi for two? GF is coming over and I want to impress her with what I've learned.
i really dont care dude
start simple
everyone likes oyako donburi
or if you have access to good quality salmon make a salmon donburi with nori and sesame seeds

Yeah, I still have most of my ingredients for oyako. I've been eating nothing but oyako for the last few days though. So at least I'm good at that but I want something new.

This book has a myriad of recipes, though I'm not sure you could call them "refined". I use it all the time.

Refined to me is something not sushi or served in a rice bowl, so the standard is set pretty low

This made me kek way harder than it should have.

Ah, then it should be right up your alley. Plenty of soups, appetizers, main dishes, and desserts of all kinds. I've used its recipes for kinpira burdock, tonjiru, nikujaga, ginger pork, umani, zenzai, and many others.

Oyakodon is easiest, but Katsudon is most tasty.
Look into shabu shabu or sukiyaki for a good date meal.
A weeaboo who is also a normalfag, posting on /ck/.

both are ok, but they are letting out some crucial ingredients out. Also its not all authentic. Like the miso ramen recipe, they let out hon-mirin and other stuff like animal fat in tare and hondashi etc. Also the okonomiyaki they replaced the oko flour with all purpose, and not using okonomiyaki sauce from otofagu. also japanese dishes uses fresh pork/chicken/dashi broth instead those nasty instant chicken broths. and there are far more shit to name on.
those kind of details can ruin a japanese dish greatly. Just look in multiple sources and also start searching youtube.
