Leberwurst, yes or no?
>>8574309
I like it on crackers. I honestly like basically everything though
>>8574309
it's delicious, though I can really have it often cause I've got a genetic condition that forces me to avoid food high in iron. :(

It's great, love it. Usually making some bread slices with it. Whole grain bread goes really well with it. Top it off with some pickled cucumber. Mhh. Recommending some of the Rhineland-Palatinate variant.

It causes you to avoid them? Or you avoid them because of your condition?
>Half-fluent in German
>Hm, leben means living
>Leber would be live-
God fucking dammit I hate this country

Braunschweiger, as we call it, is delicious.
Liver pate can satisfy that Bologna craving with an even smaller serving

I avoid them because my body absorbs all the iron in food regardless of how much iron I already have. Over time it can build up and cause a variety of illnesses unless I get it treated but the more iron I have the more often I have to get it treated.

I love devils on horseback, chopped liver, liver pate, but don't always love someone else's pate or all brands of liverwurst...quality varies.
My favorite thing is the giant liver meatball in leberknudelsuppe.

I've always heard bacon wrapped dates referred to as devils on horseback.

dates, prunes, liver, oysters, water chestnuts...many variations if you google around, but I believe it was originally chicken livers and prunes
I like the sweet, savory, salty goodness that is the liver best, and I prefer working with dates, and thin, not thick bacon. It's all good though. Try some variations.
I like a date, w/pecan, cream cheese stuffed thing at christmas, rolled in egg whites and fine sugar. Grandma used to make it.

Thanks for the recipe but
>all those commas
You like dates in your word salad too?
>>8574562
Huh okay I didn't know that. I've never had any variation actually but my grandmom always talks about how good they are.
Dates are so damn sweet I can't picture myself liking it. I've got some braunschweiger in the fridge but I've never had it hot. May give it a try.

Always and forever

I'm not sure you can sub in braunschweiger for the chicken liver in this case, could there be too much garlic, maybe?. Google the rumaki recipe where can cover up some of the flavors with the soy-pineapple marinade idea.

I mean if I've never had it before I doubt it'll be bad since I'm not comparing it to anything. "Too much garlic" is not something I've ever felt was a problem anyway. The rumaki sounds great too though. Might be more my style.

I make it about once a year. It's really delicious if you get it very crisp and caramelized.
