Maybe because both milk and eggs are a staple of cooking and you use them together in a lot of recipes? I know those tricky grocery store planners put the peanut butter next to the bread and salsa next to the tortilla chips.

Yep, I've never seen eggs not refrigerated in America. It's a necessity. American eggs can give you salmonella.
