Is the Lagavulin 16 supposed to have a lot of smoke in it?
My first bottle of whiskey was the Dalwhinnie 15.
I liked it at first, but after a while, I started to dislike it.
Later I tasted the Laphroaig 10, and I loved its smokey character.
So I decided to buy a bottle of Lagavulin 16, and I ended up kind of dissapointed.
To me it tasted more like Dalwhinnie 15 than Laphroaig 10.
Is this how its supposed to be?
Could I have gotten a bad bottle, or could it be that its me who cant get the complexe flavours, due to my relatively young age?

With age, whiskies become more subtle and complex. Most good peated whiskies will tell you their parts per million of peat. Until you learn to differenciate and enjoy the nuances of whisky, age is irrelevant. All the bottles you've mentioned are made to a specific mixture of casks, and will have no perceivable difference from bottle to bottle. Look into the areas of scotch whisky production, as the location is a very good indicator of taste profile. Peated stuff is from the islands, Islay being the most famous. Have fun and good luck!

Anyone know why Willett Pot Still Reserve is so good while every other bourbon is complete trash?

Because Willett is some voodoo magic shit.

Laga16 is more delicate in its peat than the other Port Ellen neighbors (Laphroaig and Ardbeg) but its also much less alcohol at 43%.
If you want an intense Laga try the 12 CS. If you want a cheaper strong peat seek out The Ileach Single Malt (which is actually a 5yo Laga CS) or Benriach 10 Curiositas.

Wonderful fucking pub, I used to live on Berkley st and pop in most evenings after work to sample the vast collection. Great staff and a lovely vibe.
Plenty of good food not too far away, like the Scullery, porter and rye, and ox and finch.

Lived there a while, its a mix of european students there for free study, hipsters, scary men with scarred faces, bucky, nutters, and good times. Lots of great food and drink desu
