Hey guys. This is my first time visiting /ck/ and to be honest, it's nothing like I was expecting. I was expecting threads of aspiring chefs, discussions about our favorite chefs or gourmet dishes. Jesus at least our favorite food network shows. All I see is a bunch of fast food bullshit and fucking McChicken. Where's the passion for food guys?
Anyways, aspiring chef here. Anyone here a working chef/cook?

1) you've been to other boards and expect THE BEST of them? what boards are those? /wg/? /g/? /cg/l?
2)passion for food? few and far between. you have to lurk
3) see 2. there's usually an actual chef thread active but you have to learn 4chan to use it. You see, you use the "search" box that exists.
It was like you described when I first arrived. Then I took a break for a couple years and when I came back it was McTrolling, tipping, fast food threads, and 1 guy who does cook alongs. The occasional thread for OC. I'm not sure how this happened.
>shows up during australia posting hours
>expects quality content
/ck/ is essentially 85% shitposters and trolls.. but its a slow board and i'm not too sure what the mod/janitor situation is but seem to let a lot slide.
That said there are definately gems in the rough, just hide or report the trolling and shitpost threads and look for interesting threads with OC.
I'm just a home co/ck/ that tries new recipes on weekends, I should probably start contributing like cookalong bro does.. we'll see.
You can thank Reddit for that.
