Seriously, I don't ever buy sweets/desserts or even think about them, but if someone brings doughnuts or candy to work and I have one - it is all over. I will have 5 doughnuts or a bowl of candy.
>>
I just ate five cookies. Once I start sugar, stopping is impossible.
>>
I'm an alcoholic, I don't eat any type of sweet. Ever.

Is this actually a thing? Because I am an alcoholic and I don't eat anything sweet. Someone even called me out on being an alcoholic in another thread because I eat no sugar added raspberry jam.

Fascinating. Do you guys have no response to the olfactory cues for sweets? On the occasion you eat sweets, does it decrease alcohol consumption?

I ask because chronic alcoholism alters ghrelin signaling. Normally central and peripheral ghrelin enhances food intake, and in particular shifts preference towards palatable food. But in chronic alcohol consuming rats it will increase alcohol intake without affecting food intake. In humana IV administration increases alcohol craving in alcoholics, but not controls.

Do either of you know any pre diabetic alcoholics? I've found that subthreshold pairings of a ghrelin antagonist and glp-1 agonist in the various nuclei of the reward pathway where ghrelin elicits it's ethanol consumption effects robustly attenuates food intake, but not alcohol intake.

Are either of you female as well? Do you tend to drink more during particular phases of your menstrual cycle?

I'll just have one piece of halloween candy.

20 pieces later and I feel like shit.

I'm an alcohol as well. I never eat sweet, always salty.

A lot of alcohol metabolizes as sugar.

Used to be like that before over a year of low-carb, no refined sugars eating. Now after one or two bites of sugary food I want to throw it away. Tastes sickeningly sweet to me now with a nasty, bitter aftertaste. Most fruits don't have that effect, except bananas. Used to like those, but now I can't eat a whole one. They must be really sugary or something.

Freaky, another long term alcoholic here who's always gone for savory/salty and rejects anything sweet. People think I'm weird for hating pancake syrup.
Even my alcoholic drinks are the unsweetened type.
>>
I periodically crave some soft serve or coke, but otherwise i never want sweets and if presented with them i actually feel gross.
I cant even eat a whole donut without the sugar spike making me ill

I never liked sweet food, even when I was a child. I was a heavy drinker for 15 years, I haven't had a drink in 3 years, and my feelings towards sweet food and drinks have never changed. The only sweet food I do enjoy is fruit. Ripe peaches, grapes, berries, shit like that. But generally I like sour fruit a lot better, like slightly unripened plums, sour cherries, and raspberries. Also I am a male, and I don't really understand a lot of what you are asking about. I'm an engineer, not a doctor...

So do carbohydrates. Simple carbs are basically sugar that isn't sweet. But the alcohol I drank was not sweet if I had a choice.
>>

sounds damn familiar.
>>
I don't eat surgary shit but a handful of times a few I wake up with an intense craving for it that makes me feel like I'll die without it. I'll straight up take a handful of sugar immediately after waking up if I can't find something disgustingly sugary enough. Not sure why that happens. I'm not avoiding sugar on purpose, I just don't like sugary things except for those times I wake up.
>>
I love sweets like donuts, cookies, cakes,, pies...many sweets.

Weird because I absolutely dislike sugary soda pops.
>>

I find this very interesting. If you care to elaborate I deeply appreciate it.
>>
>>8448446
I'll try to later today.
Anything in particular?
I can point you to literature or particular labs as well.
>>
I like both sweets and alcohol, but not a large amount of either
>>
As a kid this was the case but as an adult I totally find things that are too sweet sickening and turn my stomach, and also I'm trying to eat healthier. I can make a 20 oz bottle of soda last like four days and I almost never buy it anymore, I only eat things like ice cream and cookies sparingly, etc.
