Fermentation is so easy it hurts. You fill a jar with literally any vegetables, and submerge them in salted water.

Do this >>8437977 if you feel like it, but if you want to ferment foods without all the commitment of airlocks, plastic jars, and rubber gaskets, simply put the lid on the jar and leave it slightly untightened to let gasses out.

No real concern for contamination that makes airlocking them necessary, as it's encouraged to regularly taste your ferments, meaning you have to open them up anyway.
