What's the best size of a pan for cooking a 3 egg omelette?
>>
9.5" inches
>>
You dont want the ends to spread out too far, then it will cook unevenly and it will be too wide. Some on the opposite end, then it will too grouped up and you wont cool it well enough before burning.

For 2 eggs, Id say maybe an 8in to 9in depending on if there will be other ingredients inside like veggies or whatever.

For 3 or 4 eggs, Id say between 9 and 10in pan.

I also actually like taking a really small 4 or 5in pan and cooking one egg omlette at a time. Its quick and fun and uniform. Easy to serve as well to kids or a group.

smaller the pan the thicker the omelette...
>>
Is it possible to use cast iron? Or is it safer and overall better to go with no-stick?

I got a carbon steel pan this christmas. How should I season it? Has anybody tried the potato peel method and can confirm it as not shit?

I've had mine already for years before I saw this, but If I ever needed to do it again or get a new one, I'd use this method.

mine is nonstick

For a 3 egg omelet, 8 inches I think sounds pretty good, 10 is also fine. I'd say go for a 10 inch pan if you didn't own any

I can't make egg omelets in my 12 inch pan unless you like fuckyuge omelets (which I do, but not regularly)

>mine is nonstick
that's too bad
>>
If your three eggs are jumbo and you're adding some sort of filling, definitely 10 inch.
Don't swirl it up really high on the sides, just let that fucker sit. Its a big omelette, but that's the way we like them.
>>
8" is the industry standard for a 3 egg omelette.

You should be making omelettes in a non stick pan.
>>
>>8432408
I do, but it's seasoned carbon steel. Omelets made the traditional way.
>>
>>8432054
I got a carbon steel pan as well for Xmas and I did the potato method recommended with the matfer and it turned out great
>>
>>8431465
Depends on how you like your omelettes. 9 inches for a French style omelette. 6 inches for a thick Spanish style omelette. Personally, I like the latter. There is NO better omelette than a proper Tortilla EspaƱola.

My 10-inch lodge works p well, makes a thin layer on the bottom, just have to fold then flip
>>
>>8432385
Agreed. Breakfast cook here and we use 10 inch pans for our 4 egg omelettes.

OP here, thank yall the good replies
