Why is my Microwave sentient?

The paint on the inside of my microwave is chipping off, should I throw it down some stairs and buy a new one or just let it continue to drop flakes of paint in my food every now and again?

Never done that, only ever with general purpose kitchen spray and a sponge. I don't clean it very often though, maybe that's part of the issue

I used to clean it about once a week but after the paint started chipping off I stopped caring. Every time I clean it now more paint comes off
