Okay, so I bought some very cheap pasta sauce at a grocery outlet which happens to be Filipino style. I wasn't aware how fucking sweet it was and now have a huge pot of pasta which tastes like it's bathed in BBQ sauce.
What's the best way to cut down the sweetness? I added a couple cans of diced tomatoes already. Should I add something acidic like a type of vinegar or lemon/lime juice? Or should I just spice it up with hot sauce? I want to eat this pasta, but it's just way too fucking sweet.

I'd spice it as much as I could tolerate and maybe try a squirt of lime or lemon depending on what I'm using to spice it. If it's a vinegar-heavy sauce, I'd probably just do the hot sauce. Taste as you go and see what more it needs.

I've added some lime juice and a can of cream of mushroom to mellow it out a bit. It is better, but I think I am going to shoot a load of hot sauce in there. Thanks for the advice.

I've pretty much given up on having them resemble a traditional pasta in any form and am now making it more of a hotdish. I'm going to eat it either way because I'm poor and don't want to waste food, so now it's really just a matter of getting it to a point where I can tolerate it.

next time just make pasta sauce with those cans of tomatoes
as a pinoy, our pasta sauce isn't worth shit
