In my opinion, waffles have a higher ceiling, but also a lower floor.

Pancakes are gonna be pancakes, with the bad ones just being flavourless, but having the same texture as good ones.

Good waffles and bad waffles are very different, with bad ones being flavourless and soggy, and good ones being flavourful with a crisp outside, and fluffy inside.

I prefer a good waffle, but if I believe the waffles won't be good, I'll get pancakes.

you can definitely fuck up the texture, my dad used to make these pancakes with a weirdly soggy texture and no fluffiness, which convinced me for years that I didn't like pancakes

waffles are better, they hold your maple syrup which is a big deal when you use actual maple syrup shits pricey and i dont wanna have to lick that shit off my plate.

the real question is are round waffles better or are square waffles better.

Taste wise they are identical, good and bad waffles/pancakes will always exist
