I think eating fresh is a tragic misstep in fast food. We became too self-feeding. Fast food created an aspect of freshness separate from itself. We made sandwiches that should not exist by natural law. We use products that labor under the illusion of having freshness, this accretion of crisp lettuce and red tomato, programmed with total assurance that they are each made fresh, when in fact it's all weeks old. I think the honorable thing for our store to do is to deny our programming. Stop making subs using the freshest of garden vegetables. Walk hand in hand into Quiznos. One last five dollar footlong.
