Bought a tube, cheap knock-off but has hell of a kick. I eat sushi once in blue moon, what else can I use Wasabi with? Any common western foods it goes well with?
anything you'd use horseradish or spicy mayo on

I eat sandwiches with plain horseradish and nothing else. I think I'd be climbing walls if I tried the Wasabi. I don't know what they did to it, but I nearly choked on half an inch squeezed out of the tube onto a piece of sushi.

If it's a cheap knock-off, the "wasabi" probably is just green horseradish

I swear they had to add something. I'm no stranger to horseradish. During my diet I'd take four slices of dark bread, spread a thick layer of horseradish, add a couple slices of lean ham, and call it a meal. Here, I put half an inch from the tube, then choked, started coughing, lost my breath as it overpowered my nose, and then suffered through burning on my tongue like after a good piece of habanero.
Never tried the real thing, so can't compare, but it definitely isn't plain horseradish.

not sure if "western food" but goes really well with salmon, like panfried salmon with a wasabi sauce and perhaps potatoes or something

if you mix it with mayo, it makes a good burger sauce. or chicken sandwich sauce. or sweet potato fry dip. it's pretty good

wasabi and roast beef are a match made in heaven

>spread a thick layer of horseradish
I think you use "horseradish cream" not 100% pure horseradish (or fresh grinded horseradish root..)

This is a thing in east asian mcdonalds. The sauce is similar to what you described, some kind of mayo with wasabi added. Mildly spicy.
